Some of the heads I use. Most of the shafts are around 3/8 inch so only a few mm of shaft is showing when inserted. But I think you could have a full 1/4 inch showing the shaft wouldn't bend.

I have a battery powered Dremel, corded Dremel, flex shaft, etc. and more Dremel attachments than a Kitchenaid: Two critical points are eye-pro and slow-pro.
Let the Dremel do the work. They shrunk the tool, they didn't shrink the job... |
The best tool would be a nice high intensity cutting laser light. Not easy to get ahold of for a reasonable price.
A Dremel is the easiest option for a small project like that. Just wear eye and ear protection. |
I think a respirator is in order. Sounds like the dust is really bad. My son is a welder but unfortunately doesn’t have own tools.
