The great hot sauce shortage of the 2020's

Haven't seen Sriracha in the markets for quite a long time..

I never use it...I like the taste of my food.
No need to cover it up.

So many choices and they are all hot sauce to me although I prefer the green stuff.
Gringo Bandito is just right for me.

Nice souvenir!

I just threw all mine away because they were nearing or had surpassed their 'use by' date.

Nice not having them cluttering up my fridge and pantry!

Sriracha isn't really to spicy... it made from jalapenos after all...

It has some heat and sweet overtones

I didn't notice but then they make the stuff here
I keep bottles of franks, green Tabasco, and Cholula.
Heck even the local Vons carries a dozen different sauces.
Then if you want to go to 'Numero Uno' market you can get south American hot sause

I really prefer the Sriracha paste to the liquid sauce. Seems a completely different flavor.

And, we have a stash!

We're cheap. We use Louisiana Hot Sauce or Red Rooster. Even here in the land of Tapatio.

But I do hear a lot of the commercials for Melinda's but have never tried it.

Umm...

These are Melinda's. Are they any good? Some friends very kindly brought them back from NYC for me.

Some of the Korean sauces pretty much have that sweet/funky fermented character of the greentop rooster stuff. I'm at peace with a sriracha shortage as long as I can still get their two chile pastes...

What was reported out here is that the locals near the factory were complaining about smell and irritation due to the manufacturing process. I think they had to shut down to upgrade the filtration at the plant.

I'm not discerning when it comes to hot sauce. It's all pretty much the same to me. Siriracha is not too hot, so I try to have some around.

Used to love the stuff, until Huy Fong screwed Craig Underwood and his family after doing business for over 20 years. Huy Fong would not be having a supply problem if they had lived up to their promises and maintained their long term relationship with Underwood Family Farms. The courts slapped the **** out of Huy Fong for being a cheat.

I lived in Moorpark for a couple of decades and the Underwoods are a great family.

Used to love the stuff, now I just stick with Tapatio.

Probably from 2021 , interestingly there is no "best by" or "use by" on the bottle...

I just did a quick inventory of my hot sauce stash, I have 10 different commercially available bottles... plus gochujang, gochugaru, sambal olek, chili crisp,XO sauce,

And few bottles of hot sauce I fermented myself, Blood orange/habanero, Mango/Thai bird chili..

^^^ I've had the Melinda's Mango Habanero. It's good but it's loaded down with sugar - Sriracha is even worse on the sugar content. I don't eat sugar, but I found something better than Sriracha from Huy Fong - Chili Garlic Sauce. No sugar or artificial sweeteners. It's got a real bite to it.

This is some excellent hot sauce with many varieties. It's the real deal - no sugar, made in Mexico, inexpensive and fairly easy to find. El Yucateco. The black sauce is best - Black Label Reserve which I happen to be out of.
