Talk Me Out of a Mazda CX-5

Went browsing at a local Mazda dealership. Nothing really popped out at me in the new section. Buuuut, they had a 2019 CX-5 2.5l non turbo with 11k miles for 19,000 USD. Was a very tempting deal. Any reason to steer clear of Mazdas?!

Nope. No good reasons.
< edit >
Doh! You said CX-5, not MX-5! LOL!

Our daughter has a CX-5. It's a decent little vehicle. If it's the right size for what you need, then give it a go. Mazda seems to make good stuff.

Mazdas are fantastic machines, pretty much across the entire line up. If they made a PU truck, it would probably be the best one.

I am considering a CX5 to replace our Volvo XC90 . Everything I have read says Mazda are very solid . Some would say better than Honda and Toyota .

I had an ‘88 B2200 Mazda pickup for many years. It was so trouble free I wasn’t sure how to open the hood! (Slight exaggeration but I loved that truck).

I’ve heard that Mazda has better reliability compared to the other Japanese brands.

I really like the simplicity of the non turbo, especially since every brand is struggling with reliability of the turbos added to meet CARB emission standards.

Mazda is a great bang for the buck. If not for my daughter really liking the way the Subaru she bought drove versus the Mazda, she'd be driving a CX30

Our CX9 died an early death at 160k miles.

Not a fan of all the automated stuff in the wife's 2020 CX-30 but that is my inner curmudgeon coming out (mostly)

But a 19 w/ 11k on it for under $20k sounds like a good deal to me

MX5 Miata yes okay. I have have had two of them. Good styling but CX5 I think is lacking in that area. Probably okay but would like to know why it is for sale.

I ask myself why there are not many on the streets? Because there are better looking vehicles out there?

Cheers, Guy.

Salesman stated it was a trade-in on a new one. It’s completely out of warranty (due to age) and sold as is. That risk makes me hesitant… However, it’s essentially new inside and out.

I don’t think you see many as they blend in?

Yes, the non turbo is a gutless feigling, but it comes with a real automatic transmission and not a CVT…!

Yep, tons of Mazda SUV's on the road. I never know which one I'm looking at unless I can see the name, because they all look the same to me, CX-5, CX-7, etc.... But they are everywhere.

Interesting observation about there being lots in your part of the world. Not many here. I see lots of RAV 4's and small Lexus suv's. There styling is decent and they have a good reliability record. Hence the good resale price.

Jeez, is that where we are today, extolling the virtues of a "real automatic"? I get it, I hate CVTs.

Our kids had Mazda 3s, I think they're great cars. I came close to buying a CX-5, they've got very good looking interiors, much better than a lot of cars today.

I agree. Reminds me of a guppy in a fish tank.
