Anyone here used Freeze 12 Freon?
In an older vehicle not converted from R12 system? I’ve always had decent luck just converting everything to R134 but I have one that still has the old fittings, so just curious. Thanks

I haven't used it myself but I know some shops here will not touch a system with it in.
I think I still have a virgin tank of R-12 kicking around somewhere.

Doesn't work. If you need R 12 go to a few garage sales they always have a few crusty cans that can be had for $5

I used some stuff that was isobutane/propane (I sure hope that is correct !!!) mix a long while back on some cars I no longer have. A mechanic turned me on to it. I was highly hesitant as this is a flammable product. I did a ton of research and made a leap of faith.
I bought it twice. First time was easy. Second I had to get it from Canada. Safe? I can’t make any determination other than I didn’t blow up on me. Effective? Yes. Cooled very well. Could not detect a difference from R12. My opinion. Just another point of reference. |

Yes. I use it all the time. Canadian product because US regulations.
This product is the same as the R-290/R-600a blends. Better for the environment. No more dangerous than a gas stove and this blend is used in a lot of new appliances. CfC’s are such a bs market.

It sounds familiar, but it’s been years. IIRC, it worked well.

I recall doing this research years ago before conducting my R12 drug deal in the parking lot, and reading mixed reviews on Freeze12. Some people had good luck, some people had really bad luck. I think at the time it was my SC and I didn’t want to risk it.

FWIW CFC-12 has a life of 102 years If you pick up a rusty but full R12 can from 1972 is it already half way depleted? I don't know if the degredation occurs within the can or if free floating in the atmosphere. See above quote under Environmental Problems heading. https://people.wou.edu/~avorder/Refrigeration.htm
