I think some clown on the board has a thread about them. He was pretty impressed by them but I hear he impresses easily.

I've used my Bauer battery powered pole saw about 5 times since getting it in the spring. (from Harbor Freight)
It surprises me every time how easy it cuts med sized limbs off.

The angle of the saw bar makes it easy to 'hang it' on a limb straight up. Just pull the trigger and it slices thru like butter.

Speaking of "handy".......is this mini 20v dewalt battery pack for pruning...........AWESOME when the 12" bar Dewalt saw is too much.

stunning tool.

Yeah, I've had a Greenworks one for 4 years or so. Comes with an extension that reaches 10 feet. The thing is a beast for what it is...

Yep! I have one of those for doing small work on my hunting property. I actually took down most of a tree in my side yard with a saw like that.

I will take it apart this weekend. Maybe its time to take it in and have it looked at. I feel so dumb. Problem with that is that the people who work on these thing aren't that great and don't always do a good job. Maybe another DIY when I have time to tear into it.

I bought one of those small hand held chain saw for my wife. She like to mess around in her parent's garden. Good for them, since she has to stop by to care for her mother a couple hours a day and it keeps her dad busy. She / they seem to love that little chainsaw. Its a cheap Amazon that uses its own batteries.

Don't know why I rebuild carbs anymore...........so I don't.

Couple weeks ago before hard winter hits, tested house 8KW generator carb and it was gummed up (yes even with stabil, storing carb dry, storing carb wet........ethynyl free gas.......) sigh. It's a dual fuel Petrol/LP, and now they've added a funky solenoid valve to the bottom of the float bowls? maybe to shut off main gas jet if you're running on LP..........anyways..........WHY SPEND TIME rebuilding, deep cleaning, and hoping...............geezus for my generator, off Amazon, you can get a whole new china carb, spark plug, fuel hose, pleated fuel filter, gaskets, extra jets, and a free happy ending too...............well it's not free..........but for only $25?????? For ALL THAT? works great. heck If I go to a local auto parts store, a spark plug alone is $5-7.

Pull the cover off and take a look, should be able to find your excess oil problem, that probably helped to lubricate your clutch. Should be just a clip holds the clutch drum on, lube the bearing while in there.

The guy I bought my place from left some gardening equipment behind one of which was an Echo leaf blower. It ran good for a couple years and started to do what the OP describes, start, idle, good to half throttle only to fall on its face at foo, wide open. Cleaned up the carb, no relief. Got a replacement carb still the same. Took it into the mower shop and asked the owner what the issue could be. he said that most 2 stroke motors these days are set at a very lean mixture with no ability to adjust mixture, he could not even sell the special tool to adjust for emissions. This causes them to run hot pretty much destroying themselves sooner than older stuff. He suggested it was one of the crank seals at the case and that if i pulled the plug and apply a bit of air pressure from the compressor (<15 PSI) that might reveal itself. Sure enough, it was leaking at drive side so it was creating a huge pressure leak as throttle was applied. Remember a 2 stroke case is essentially the intake manifold so a leak at the crank was killing the mixture before the carb even came into play.

I gave up on CA fuels for my 2 cycle saws and such a long while back using the canned stuff. It costs some, but you can leave it in the tank for year or more w/o it spoiling or gumming up carbs as it evaporates.

KFC911 11-02-2024 02:01 AM

^^^^ I never pampered 2-cycles for decades... put 'em away wet .... for months... everything ... only using non-E .... until gas became crappy.... even here. It won't keep in a can very long ... I use a bunch .... too much for Stihl gas in a can .... Ima cheap ;).

I ran some Stihl gas through my older line trimmer and largest (oldest Stihl) a few months back while helping someone (outta their can) .... both of them wouldn't run wide open .... smoking & sputtering ... mo'skeeter clearing :).... for that tank only.

It cleaned both of them out like a Techron treatment....

They run better than ever now back on Non-E pump gas...

If I lived in CA I would probably have Dewalt tools .... seriously.

Modern gas just sucks ...

Unless you are a pro and go through it daily imo.

If you're using non e in the little 2.5 gal containers, try to find a station with a seperate non e hose. Wawa does that here. otherwise, if the guy before you got normal gas, you'll get quite a bit of ethanol gas from the common hose, and a little ethanol is enough to attract water.

KFC911 11-02-2024 09:35 AM

I have three non E options close by ... 90 is what everything gets .... mowers, blowers, trimmers, saws, .... I mix 1 gal of 2-cycle usually... leaf season and big azz Stihl backbacks get thirsty .... 2.5 can time ;)... I fill it at the pump ... when I fill my big jugs :D.

Every non E pump I've ever seen/used is a dedicated hose.... otherwise would suck .... bigly :(.

Most of the stations around here that have non E fuel have it running through the same line as the E fuels. Whenever I'd get non E, I'd fill my car up before filling the gas cans.

I will say I go to electric first these days. From a prior post:

Only chainsaw I could find (not sold out) in Florida for IAN cleanup. It did not disappoint, I cut down and cut up that tree, and it almost did it on a single charge.

I had some pros taking down some very large trees, at first they laughed at the 20v cordless, but they were happy to use it when they climbed the tree to delimb it.
