Christmas Beer!

Can't stand most of them but I found one by Bells that calls itself a Christmas beer but it's really a good Scotch Ale disguised as a Christmas beer. It's not loaded up with a spice flavor. If you can get your hands on it, give one a try.

Just curious, you call it a Scotch Ale. Does that mean it tastes like scotch, or does it taste like a a ale brewed in Scotland?

No way do I want a beer that tastes like scotch, but an ale brewed and consumed in Scotland I would like.

A Scotch ale is a style of beer. Dark, malty, low hops, a bit sweet, slightly strong. No Scotch was used in the making of this beer.

I tried some last year...don't remember liking it.

I'll stick with 2 Hearted...maybe tie a red ribbon around it for Christmas.

Sorry! I started a thread and then hit the road for a fishing trip. As Otter said it's really a style of beer. The ones I drink seem to run in the 7-11% ABV range. The one I'm sipping now is the Founders Backwoods Bastard which is 11%. It drinks like a meal! They're typically on the dark red side with a very malty flavor. I make a wicked Scotch Ale that is similar in style and taste to a Founders Dirty Bastard which is one of my favorite beers.
