How has Hamilton been doing?

red 928 04-09-2025 10:00 AM

Few things of note:

not much action in the race, it was over after 20 laps.

Hamilton's rookie replacement is faster with twice the points of the old man.
He's the real deal and with many other promising rooks not doing well, Wolff again looks like he is playing chess against checkers.

Max is still killing it.
It's easy to be the fastest driver in the fastest car but to beat two really good drivers in cars that are faster than yours, impressive.
I still don't like the guy much but I have even more respect for his skilz than before.

You forgot the green font.

It depends on who you ask. If you ask him, he's firing on all cylinders, but his team and the car is holding him back.

Others aren't as sympathetic or kind.

Remains to be seen how the season shakes out.

WDC #8 is not looking good so far.

astrochex 04-09-2025 04:40 PM

Well Hamilton won the sprint race in China, so the suckage is overrated imho.

Is anyone else watching the Lollipopman shorts? These are funny as heck! They pick up on all the driver peccadilloes without being mean about it, and there's so many glib and quirky references all over in the background and the script. It pays to read the comments and then go back and rewatch. Somebody has really got a pulse on the funny side of F1! Why am I just now finding these? (Apologies if someone has already posted about them)

Nope, I don't have a way of watching F1 but as a former Ferrari fan and sometimes Lewis apoligizer on F-chat I'm curious.

Wish'd he could have made the move a few years ago before "over 35" catches up to the human body.

The lollipopman videos are super cute and funny. Always entertaining. Maybe he's an ex-crew member.

He was in the bathroom taking care of biological needs but some things can't be rushed, especially in a full race suit.

WPOZZZ 04-11-2025 04:21 PM

He has been having stomach problems as of late.

rfuerst911sc 04-12-2025 06:13 AM

Yuki is REALLY struggling to come to grips with the Red Bull chassis . Dead last in FP3 . They better find a setup that works or his confidence will be ruined .

GH85Carrera 04-12-2025 12:59 PM

The announcers were saying the Kimi Antonelli was given a new Mercedes street car from the team. He will not be able to drive it in his home country, for three more years as he is too young (18) to drive such a powerful car on the streets. The fact that he drives an absurdly complex 1,000 HP car at 200 MPH as his full time job has no bearing on the case. Such a first world problem.

rfuerst911sc 04-12-2025 01:17 PM

Russell and Antonelli both get one grid spot penalties for entering pit lane before it was safe to do so . They will start the race 3rd and 5th .

Good qualifying.

Not sure what is going on with Aston, they started last year promising, and have gone downhill from there. Seems like Lance doesn’t even care anymore.

I was hoping for Hamilton to do better this race, Mercedes is improving.

stealthn 04-13-2025 09:01 AM

Wow! What a race!

Bumping, track limits, tire strategy, overtakes, RB whining, it had it all.

Congrats to the winner.

I think No. 2 will get a penalty, not sure why they don’t implement it right away, before the podium and all.

GH85Carrera 04-13-2025 11:00 AM

The said that George's DRS issue was the steering wheel went dead. He pushed the intercom button and the DRS opened, but only for a second or two and it gave him no advantage. He finished the race with no dash display evidently, almost like the old school F1 races.

They said the stewards wanted to look at all the data and make sure he really pushed the intercom button and the DRS opened and for how long. Evidently pretty much every part has a sensor, and a data log. If indeed it opened for just a brief period, and because he hit the intercom button he should not get a penalty.

Is everyone depressed this year ? It looks like everyone went to the Lance Stroll Charm school.

Lewis hamilton looks like MBS ran over his dog, in every interview! Thank goodness he won a sprint race or he'd be on suicide watch by now. Even when the Merc was in the dog house he seemed more positive. I wonder if it's the realization that Charles is no walkover and is pretty damn quick, and the car will not catch up. I was amused at how Lewis completely ignored the attention hog that is MBS trying for a hug post race, wonder if he will be fined for ignoring that sycophant.

Max seems pissed off too. His manager was seen arguing quite vociferously with Helmut Marko post race, no doubt complimenting the Pit release and strategy..I do love anyone arguing with Marko though....

Yuiki looks like a guy that achieved his dream landing in the best racing team but realized their car was the best 2 years before he arrived, and is now a POS... "It's a TRAP" !

Norris looks like he needs therapy, with his qualy "I forgot how to drive" and his post race comments overall... I imagine at this level you should act positive even when not, at least not to help out your opponents. I do like that he speaks his mind though, makes him relatable.

Even Sainz was mightily annoyed at getting fined for having to "take a $#%" during the anthem, and unlike Kimi Raikonnen he did not even say it out loud.. Then his damage was 50-50 and he got tagged with a penalty on a day he could've scored.

Too bad about the Safety car that really should have been a virtual one, ruined the race of a few drivers that were doing well on merit, and possibly Doohan's career (points may have helped, now we'll see if Briatore keeps him).

rfuerst911sc 04-13-2025 03:47 PM

I was happy to see Gasly stay competitive the entire race . Well done . And how about both Haas drivers getting points ! Yuki gets points that may help his confidence . I was surprised Racing Bulls were off pace . I hope Doohan keeps his seat .

GH85Carrera 04-14-2025 05:00 AM

On so many weekends, the track, the temperatures make such a difference in performance. Red Bull is certainly struggling, and many fans of the other teams love seeing Max have to do almost magical qualifying times from his car. Of course the days of Mercedes with their clear performance is long gone.

The McLaren is the fastest car for sure and Ferrari still can;t figure out the best strategies.
