World Darts Championship - Anybody?
Ok I get the skepticism, but bear with me here. The best dart players in the world gather in London annually for a two week tournament around Christmas. Combine amazing talent, crowds that would make Premier League proud, and some super interesting personalities. The guys who are actual ranked pros do it professionally year round and travel all over the world competing. My wife’s sister and her husband got our family hooked on it, they actually attended a session this year. It’s a Christmas tradition for us now, and everybody freaking loves it. Below is a championship match from 2022, good stuff. A 9 darter is basically a perfect game, the least number of darts required to score 501 points.

Big time darts are cool!
If you weren't aware of the thing - you'd laugh it off as something that might be on the Ocho. I know which is the pointy end of the dart, and can even scare the treble-20 now and then but if I played for real, and had to double in and out, I'd still be standing there a day later at 501.

I enjoy drinking beer and playing darts in my garage but I SUCK. Even the worst of these guys would embarrass me.

Back in the late '70s, early '80s I entered the US Open in Vegas a few years. Out of a couple thousand entrants you could pick out who was going to make the finals out of 5 or 6 guys. All UK guys at the time. Not long after that the game got much more international but at that time the Brits ruled. I made the top 32 twice and at that point was completely out of my league. No US player stood a chance at making the finals at that time. The game was invented in England way back. A king at the time only allowed his soldiers to play games war related. Archery, spear throwing and the likes. Hard to throw a spear on the tavern so darts was invented. An end cut from a log was soaked in water then hung on the wall to Chuck their tiny spears at.
