That was a lot of dough back then
184- 1941 dollars = 4000- 2024 dollars...

Its kind of odd that my grandparents would spend that much on an appliance.. having lived through the depression, prohibition etc.. They were frugal

My gramps was an engineer, and apparently had no problem spending big on quality... I.E. I still use that stove almost daily 83 years on from when it was installed...

He also bought one of the first Porsche 356s imported into the US....And a high quality grand piano made on Steinway St (not a Steinway)

There are hundreds of wineries located here. Anyone that has been to Watkins Glen would hopefully know about all the vineyards. There is even a “Grape Festival” in Naples, NY in late September. There is all kinds of delicious products to buy. Grape pies, many different grape juices, grape granola bars…etc.

Grape pie is a MUST try when in the area. Also, grab yourself a White Hot somewhere, you won’t be sorry.

I imagine grapes that would be used for ice wine in the Finger Lakes region would make a great pie.

So many grapes are grown here, once all the wineries and Welch’s have their fill, tons are left for other culinary delights. I recently had a grape beer. It was delicious. It was light on the flavor, but crisp and had a wonderful aroma. I don’t like fruit beers, but my daughter ordered it and I got to try it. I was very surprised!

I'll eat and make most pies, but if I have a choice I'm making and
eating cheese cake. Other deserts on my hit list is Bananas Forster and bread pudding.
