Anyone else surprised by the speed of the Lambo?

Its only practice so I wouldn’t read much into it. But maybe there is something there if they are fast and consistent.

Nice pics Paul. How were the crowds today?

One thing they did yesterday that I had not seen before was they put up barriers that fans had to stand behind in front of the south garage entrance by the Penske garage. It worked out okay because I was in the front row.

Crowds were bigger than ever it seems. Boy scouts, Moms with baby strollers, clueless people. Some people were having a hard time finding a place to park. Nearly the entire infield is reserved RV parking. Looks like the RV can come in for the Roar and stay all week. The Roar used to be a cool bonus for the fans.

^^^ We got there about 10am and by around 11 the infield parking was full. We (and many others) just walked around that barrier. I think it was intended for when the cars were leaving the paddock?? Not sure. Paddock was jammed after the first Weathertech session.

It's been raining all night here in Jax. Looks like a front is moving down the state. I won't be going down there today.

2025 livery critique: not a fan of the Meyer Shank Acura liveries. The Phillips 66 is not horrid and it's cool to see an old name like Phillips 66 back in the game. The other one (askROI) is just sort of unimaginative, dated-looking and doesn't stand out in a crowd at all out on track. Also would have liked to see a little bit of an update/change to the Penske-Porsches and the Whelen Cadillac.

Curt, I agree that the MSR liveries are bland, the cars don’t stand out at all.

The WTR Caddies on the other hand are helped by the metallics.

Rexy is still the visual king, although the Iron Dames car can be seen from the horizon.

Coolest car at Daytona (street car, race car or other)??? This Greenwood Corvette tribute! Driven to the track. Lawn chairs, etc. stuffed into the passenger seat. So cool. :D

Interesting interview with John Doonan yesterday. Of course, Aston Martin is already here and Hyundai/Genesis will be here next year. But he basically indicated that a future McLaren GTP is a done deal and did not deny the rumor that Ford is coming to GTP. Pretty soon, it's going to be a question of who's not in?
