Some Karen on facebook is complaining about how inappropriate the gesture was. Funny, I can't think of a MORE appropriate gesture...

For those who missed it, this was the main violation. Farfus was several laps down and brake-checked Milner to allow his BMW teammate to go around the outside into the lead.

IMSA has stated that the car was found to have exceeded the maximum allowable wear to the regulated area of the skid block on the underside of the car, which is set at 5 mm by FIA technical regulations.

^^^ Ouch. Have the watches been confiscated yet?
Explanation of the BMW-Corvette dust up. I knew Farfus was down several laps, but didn't realize he was 47 laps down when he was blocking the leader! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4dQmg7_G-q0?si=Nk2kZCZCINqs7jNz" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

If you can't get enough sports car endurance racing, the annual GT race up and down Mt. Panorama is today, Bathurst 12 hours. Porsche has had excellent results here. I am a bit disappointed in just 22 total entries. YT live link below, starts 1:30pm EST

TommyMilner He's donating the proceeds as well, so he's not trying to profit off of this (got mine ordered :D ).
Wild crash at the top of the mountain at Bathurst. Close to sailing over the wall and it looked like a drop-off from there. On a side note, damn that looks like it would be a fun track to drive! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1738503371.jpg <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-zYfJOuKARs?si=mqd--93K-jIlVrC7" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

3-day IMSA test started at Sebring today. GTs today, full-field tomorrow, prototypes only Thursday. The Valkyrie is here and I'm curious to hear (and see) it. Normally-aspirated V12 goodness with no bothersome hybrid to dilute the experience :)

RE: Aston Martin Valkyrie V12 - I have not heard such a glorious sound since the Ferrari 312-T4 in 1979 at Watkins Glen!:eek: It's loud. It sounds fast. It looks like it's going fast. I'm not sure if it is fast (I haven't seen any times yet). Edit: looks like it's approx 2 seconds off the pace.

^You do excellent work, Curt!
No mistaking the Valkyrie for any other GTP in any aspect. It sure stands out. The Lamborghini needs to be faster than the Aston Martin at least. |
Another thanks for your amazing photos Curt
Was offered the job of leading the composite design for converting the Valkyrie into the race car Really wanted to help but was already fully booked so had to say no :( really sucks just thinking about it :( Think current WEC/IMSA is the best sports car racing has been since probably the GT1 days back in the mid to late 90's when Porsche, McLaren, Mercedes, Nissan, Lotus, Lister and Toyota etc were fighting it out |
^^^ Thanks. The sound of the Aston Martin is sort of a game-changer in my mind. It's the best sounding racecar since the V10 F1 era. Doonan is the one who suggested to AM to make the car louder when they tested at Daytona. And they did. The test here is closed to the public and the only way to watch is from the Seven Hotel (on Turn 7). So there are often people staying at the hotel who are not racecar fans and they come out and watch for a while. When the Valkyrie went by you could see, even these non-enthusiasts, get sort of a dumb-founded smile on their face. Of course, Cadillac has been the sound-King of the new era but the rest of the field is not really noteworthy. It would be a major improvement to the series to get Porsche and Honda and BMW and the rest to open up those silencers!
Something Sounds Different |

Should the location of the caliper be of interest to us?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1739489565.jpg |

|
Front might be done to minimise brake duct aerodynamic disruption on the ground effect tunnels.
Also the steering trackrod might be inside a wing shroud so having the caliper low increases the span of the aero section to maximise front down force as that will be the weak aero end of the car Rear might be done to increase/optimise rear toe stiffness of the wheel carrier to maximise rear end cornering stability |
Lower CG

Tobra, I actually wrote that but deleted it as a Newey car is all aero driven but yes it could well be for that too
|
The Lambo is suffering from lack of reliability . Maybe don't worry about speed and concentrate on making it to the middle of a race .
