Welcome Back My Friends – The Return of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
I get an email notification when new shows are scheduled at a local concert venue. This one immediately caught my attention since Keith Emerson and Greg Lake both died in 2016. The description of the show is below. I may just go since I am curious about how they will pull this off.
Created by Carl Palmer and his management, the show will be presented with the full cooperation of the Estates of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. Through modern technology they will reunite the band: Carl with his two bandmates, playing together along with Keith Emerson & Greg Lake, who both passed away in 2016. The show combines video performance of Emerson and Lake from a legendary sold out ROYAL ALBERT HALL ELP show from 1992 with live on stage performances of Carl Palmer with his own ELP Legacy band, Paul Bielatowicz on guitar and Simon Fitzpatrick on bass and chapman stick. |

Interesting.
I saw them in the 70's. They turned a baby grand into splinters.

I saw them around 78 at the Omni in Atlanta. It was a great show.

I've been a huge fan since 1974. Saw them live in NY in `77.
I don't think this Frankenstein of old and new will be anything I would want to see. I'd rather enjoy them as they were or see Palmer's tribute band but not both sync'd together.

Weird.
(And Keith Emerson and Greg Lake toured for a while without Carl Palmer. Anyone else remember Emerson, Lake and Powell? I do.)

Yeah, I remember seeing Emerson, Lake, and Powell. Cozy Powell, a fantastic drummer but no Carl Palmer. He played with a lot of big names, but was a poor fit with Emerson and Lake.
And no, I have no interest in seeing this new charade. I had the privilege of seeing them when I was in junior high school. I don't want to tarnish that memory.
