Where & what is the 5th dimension?
Been reading stuff about the universe and ya got to wonder about a 5th dimension?
What say you about humans ever figuring it out in a few generations? What would it mean for the future? The advent of AI pounding away 365/24/7 to get an answer gives me faith Dark matter is stuff in space that has gravity, but it is invisible and isn’t like anything else we know about. Dark matter makes up about 27% of the universe. Dark energy makes up roughly 68% of the universe. We don’t know much about dark energy either, but we do know there is a lot of it. Together, dark matter and dark energy make up almost 95% of our entire universe. The rest – everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all matter we understand – adds up to less than 5% of the universe. |
The size of the solar system, much less the size of the galaxy and the universe is just is just not comprehensible by most.

I always thought the 5th through 11th dimensions were purely mathematical in nature. Due to the limitations of our physical 4 dimensions, I'm not sure we can experience 5 through 11.

Vaguely related note, I thought "Flatland" was a really cool explanation/visualization/story. |

I believe the Fifth Dimension was a too-pop group from the late '60s.

It is, I'm certain. |

Maybe the other side has the answer and we already know what song will be playing. |
that's where it gets interesting and something I think about now and again including my theory on the conservation of the soul in the same vein as mass and energy. The soul could very well be an artifact of or manifestation of the 5th or another dimension in our 4D world.

When Tabs gets back from there we can ask him.

I think Prince explains it well.

The ability to perceive these higher frequency are the higher dimensions. Some believe we are not a body with a soal, but a soal with a body. Once the body is used up, the soal remains but vibrates in a higher dimension. Then what? |
Jeeeesh, I have enough trouble trying to find my sox. Now I have to look for a dimension?

Maybe the 5th dimension is where all the 10mm sockets go!

Seem to me the 5th dimension can be any attribute that is not described by position or time.
It can be temperature, color, electric charge, hardness, opacity, odoriferousness, etc. So you could define a thing by the x-y-z coordinates of the space it occupies, the time (default is present day but could be describing a thing as it existed in 12,000 BC), and that it is mostly black and brown, 98F, overall neutrally charged, mostly soft, fully opaque, very very smelly, etc. Maybe a Neanderthal. |

The fact that we know of parts of the Universe around us that are invisible to us shows how amazing humanity is. The fact that we even know that (for example) ultraviolet light exists, and can then harness it is absolutely mindblowing. The fact that we have mapped the Universe, described it back and forth, defined, viewed and the manipulated the actual primordial building blocks of matter... |

Tabby is the 5th dimension. He quit birdparts and now hangs out there 24/7. Our lowly 3 dimensional universe is pedantic for him. A traveler both of time and space, he's floats the ether of dimensional possibility, finding thrift store bargains, all of them, simultaneously, as we speak. :D:D:D

Socks enter the fifth dimension at 50% the rate of 10mm sockets. That's a fact.

Shoulda looked there first. Now to that dimension thing…. |

Using a foot lever to open the door even though you'll still have to bend over to take the clothes out.
There used to be so many quality engineers around that not only did we have Bell Labs and Werner Braun and General Motors and Lockheed but there was plenty of extra capacity to design useless **** like this! 1950's? FIFTH dimension? Coincidence? |

We live in a 3 dimensional Universe that is wrapped upon itself in the 4th dimension (4 physical, orthogonal, spacial dimensions). A balloon is a 2 dimensional universe wrapped around a third dimension. We are one step further along. 5th dimensions and above only exist in a few esoteric cosmologies. |
We solve the 5th dimension in the future and send back a tesseract for us to realize it, then we use Morse Code to pass the data back through time.
Duh. |

These guys have been to the 8th Dimension. We have The Fly, Robocop, Dr. Emmet Brown, Kurgan from The Highlander, Mantis...

For how much we have done, there’s very little we actually know of science, the earth (including the ocean), and even our biological mechanisms. All theory. However it’s interesting that a bunch of weirdos from 100 years ago can lay out the basics of quantum mechanics and to this day have not been replaced. Schrödinger‘s equation is the basics for a lot of processes. So little we actually know. There’s other constructs of mathematics that is applicable towards chemistry. We can theorize elements with n orbitals. Just on earth, we only get to play up to the f-orbitals…. |
