Flu up, COVID down this year
 

Unfortunately, it looks like the flu vaccine will only be modestly effective. A lot of co-workers have been out lately where I work. I've been good, and I'm vaccinated.

A friend was in the hospital with lung problems...before he was released, he came down with Covid.
It meant an extra week before they would release him. He's back home now doing ok. (70 yo)

They told him that it was a weaker version of Covid or else it would have really challenged him.

Lots of flus, closures, etc. reported around here... don't know the flavors.

If over 65 years old...they will auto give you the enhanced flu shot. (usually without asking)

I recommend deferring to the normal flu shot. The enhanced version has awful side effects.
I've had three years of the enhanced and suffered for two days after with terrible headaches after each time.
Went back to the normal shot...no headaches.

I've never had a flu shot and I can't recall the last time I had the flu. If I've ever had the flu....

The only time I had it was in the 90's. I remember missing a couple days of work (which I normally never did) and then every time I thought it was getting better, it would return stronger than the last time. It was a real ordeal.
I hope to never have it again.

I've never had a flu shot, nor the flu in my life. Got the early Covid vaxes and one booster... no effects. Caught Covid "light" from mom last year .... worse thing was sleeping thru the Super Bowl ... minor for bofus fwiw.

But "it" is kicking some folks' butts this year ... whatever flavor.

I had my annual physical yesterday and the nurse was going to give me the flu shot, but my doctor said that it just wasn’t that effective against whatever variants were going around this season and didn’t think it was worth having, so I passed.

She normally advises to take all the shots and vaccinations available, so it must not be a very good mix this round.

Currently going through a bout with it now. Have a slight touch of pneumonia also. Not my first time.

I've always gotten the flu shot, but stopped getting it a few years ago. I'd still end up with a case of the flu, regardless of the shot. So said why bother.

Know a ****eload of people out of service wirh it currently.

I'm pretty sure that I've had the flu once, probably 15-20 years ago (self diagnosed based on symptoms and time of year). I've been getting the vaccine more in the last 10 years, mostly just to keep the wife happy, and I don't think it can hurt.

No big deal, the Chiefs slept through SB too...

NOOOO .... I slept thru their comeback LAST year... I was wide awake for this year's blowout ... turned it.off at the half this time... Covid was much better :)

I’m not a vaccine hater, but that one doesn’t work for me. I don’t see the point.

I’ve had the flu a few times over the years, but can’t remember the last time. I pretty much get the flu shot every year though. This year was the enhanced vaccine, no side effects.

In other news, it’s flu season…

I’m going through something right now, had a major headache since Monday, last night I had chills (I never have chills) have a call into my doctor, but currently feeling like crap.
Not like I have time to deal with this stuff right now.

Two times, first time was really sick, second almost died

Had the Hong Kong flu as a kid, nothing since

I had the brown bottle flu a few weeks ago.
