4 Nations Face-Off
Hopefully we can keep this out of PARF.
I was actually playing in my beer league on Wednesday so I missed a lot of the Canada vs Sweden game, but it looked like a good one. That Canadian Power Play has the potential to be brutal with MacKinnon, McDavid and Crosby. Was pretty disappointed to hear the booing of the national anthem last night prior to the USA vs Finland game, but it is Montreal. I would like to hope the same will not happen in Boston when the games move here, but who knows. I was at an AHL game not long ago here in CO against a Canadian Team and the crowd was very respectful of both anthems. I understand it is international play, and some folks get pretty excited about that. The US team seemed to start out a bit slow but gained momentum as the game progressed. We did seem to get a few lucky deflections and bounces, but the offensive pressure was applied in the 3rd period. It has to be pretty cool for the brothers to be playing together on the same line. I am looking forward to the games tomorrow. I wonder if Finland has enough offensive prowess to get by Sweden. For the US vs Canada it could be a high scoring game. Bill |
The Canada Sweden game was great. Sid looks like he is winning the battle against Father Time. I fear the Drew Doughty will end up being a mistake for team Canada.
Looking forward to Saturdays game. Steve |
I don't watch baseball, I have no idea what team is playing with a ball.

Usually, when a post begins with a "keep this out of PARF", it's headed for PARF...

why were they booing the anthem? any idea?

It’s hockey….
Sorry it’s not a Mustang or pool thread Paul :) |
It’s not rugby - there are more nations - so it has to be one of those sports no one cares about.
Wait - OP said Montreal - so it’s hockey - I’ll amend my comment. ‘It’s a sport only Canadians care about’. |
I found it hysterical that the Montreal fans would 'boo' Marchand as he represented their nation (and even scored the 2nd goal of the game).
The USA/Finland game started out interesting but turned into Bambi versus Godzilla. What do you folks think about the 10 minute overtime? |

Finland and Sweden are putting on quite a show.
They're both playing for pride (have been neighbors and always had sibling rivalry) The Fins are playing like they want the win. |
Wow. Three fights in the first 09 seconds of the game! All separate incidents. The first two looked planned. The game has been fast, hot and heavy. Tied at 1-1 after the first period.

Team USA defeats Canada 3-1 in Montreal.
Canadians booed our national anthem, so we decided to dominate them at their own game. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Team USA defeats Canada 3-1 in Montreal.<br><br>Canadians booed our national anthem, so we decided to dominate them at their own game.<br><br>Mr. President, we are still not sick and tired of winning! <a href="https://t.co/rvq1U8eypJ">pic.twitter.com/rvq1U8eypJ</a></p>— Nick Adams (@NickAdamsinUSA) <a href="https://twitter.com/NickAdamsinUSA/status/1890974726501114230?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 16, 2025</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
