Get off my lawn!
|
I need a new homeowners insurance company.
I have been using ANAPAC for many years. They are ending homeowners coverage effective March 1.
So I would welcome input on what company to deal with. My agent is recommending Mercury Insurance. What companies have been great to deal with, and which are run Forest run! ANAPAC will continue insurance for my 911 and El Camino. Likely I will insure my wife's Macan with whatever homeowners company we go with to get a package deal.

I've heard good things about Germania here in Texas. Friends had no major issues getting claims paid post-Harvey, etc...

I've had Allstate for 20+ years. Fortunately, haven't had to test them. My agent also said they aren't writing new policies here.
Will likely look elsewhere soon. |

ANAPAC is just getting out of homeowners coverage totally. They will continue with car and commercial coverage.

Cincinnati.
We have placed well over 5mm annually. Their claims are far lower than average. I have my homeowners with them. I want to buy their stock. They are solid. Risk averse. Pay claims. And yes, I am in the industry. |

USAA?
The rules for membership are a little goofy but could be worth the effort.

We have had Cincinnati for many years, for our businesses, homes, and cars. No complaints. When we had wind damage from Ivan their adjuster was very aggressive about finding every nick and scratch on the house.
Like all the others, rates have gone through the roof. Once the rear window on my Mercedes was mysteriously broken in the middle of the night. No one could figure out how it happened. From out of nowhere the Cincinnati adjuster concluded that the neighbor must have hit something with his mower. (From 400 feet away in the middle of the night?) Claim payed.

I have been a USAA member since 1978. I use them for my credit cards. They are not the same as the old USAA. They want a full 5K deductible for the roof. So a 400K house we will have a 20K deductible. We just had a new roof installed two weeks ago and it was "only" 28K.

Interesting. We have them and just got a bill and paid for another year of home owners.

We have everything with AllSnake.
Never had a problem with the (limited number of) claims, but also never claimed against property or umbrella. It’s not cheap - especially with a 17yo male on the policy - but what insurance is. |

A heads up that I tell everyone. Insurance companies are not your friend. They write a contract. Their only obligation is to pay what they owe.
And, the market is very broken currently. It will hurt for a while. Maybe a long while. |

I used Allstate. Had a great agent, had three claims, they couldn't get me the money fast enough. No issues. Had them for daily driver insurance, too. A couple claims over the years, no issues.
Tried State Farm once, hated every minute of it. ****ing pain in the ass busybodies and more expensive than Allstate for me. My sister has them too and I recently did an auto claim for her that took me 4 months to resolve. Her agent lives all of 3 doors down the street and is entirely useless. Owns the biggest house in the neighborhood, too, so think about that. Hate that company with a white hot passion. Going to buy the car from my sister and get a personalized plate that reads FKSTFRM, if it isn't already taken. |

My insurance agent is recommending I go with Mercury Insurance.
It is a bit cheaper than ANPAC is. Anyone have first hand knowledge on Mercury Insurance?

If you are an AARP member you can get sweet deals through The Hartford. Dropped my auto insurance significantly. Homeowners Insurance is a plain old nightmare for we Californians in fire prone areas. Need a fire specific policy in addition to standard coverage.

Weird, I would have expected that to be the east coast or west coast. I know OK has issues (tornadoes first and foremost) but I wouldn't have thought that was enough.

There is probably a reason Cincinnati isn’t in OK. They don’t write in CA either.
Sorry. |
