Some Repo Tow guys are slick!

This guy in particular posts some impressive stuff.

This one is awesome. It's worth the click to FB. He snags an SUV while there's a couple in the back seat. They jump out, and then he takes off with the SUV. "Wait, wait, let me get my shoes..."

This is probably the best though. SUV parked between a car and a home and he threads his truck in from the side and pulls the SUV out over the trunk of the car.

I’ve watched a few of the Facebook guys towing. He seems pretty talented, but sometimes I wonder if they are staged.

These days, I wonder that in almost every video....

YT is the original "reality TV" and now it's probably even more like that than I'd like. Police body cam footage is probably one of the last things that isn't staged.

Look up REPONUT on YT. REPONUT was his license plate which stands for REPO in Utah. He made videos for a few years. You can see the predator vs prey action where he outsmarts those trying to outsmart him. Some scary situations.

If you want to see some impressive video of heavy lift trucks in action, check out Pepe's Towing. They are based in LA . A lot of the videos are of using three trucks to right loaded semis which have overturned on freeway ramps and some are recoveries of vehicles which have gone waaaay over the bank.
One thing that impresses me is the relationship these guys maintain with law enforcement and CalTrans. Very professional.

Best

I knew a guy in high school who went on to work repo. He was a big ol' guy. He looked like Jellyroll, minus tattoos. His size made him intimidating, but he was actually the sweetest, kindest soul. I really liked him.

He was shot dead repo-ing a car at 27.

I've seen some of his videos. I thought it was funny, in one, they showed up with the Jeep Cherokee and the lady said "that's what you brought to pull me out?"

But they got her out.

I like their corvair based recovery vehicle too, but then I've always liked corvairs.

I assume most folks do not use the parking brake these days. So probably minimal assuming that they grab them from the correct/drive end. I assume some get trashed, especially when the repoee realizes and tries to drive off of the tow truck. I've seen videos where some folks do that.

And I believe in those, the repo-ee gets the bills for the damaged vehicle including any damage to the tow vehicle.

Even when they can’t grab the correct end, they usually just drag it somewhere safe and then reconnect. Probably not much worse than a pair of flat spotted tires.

I'm more thinking about the plastic body parts.

Me too. I'm a skeptic and try not to be taken in, but sometimes someone points out an obvious "tell" that a video is fake or staged that I totally missed.

It's a dangerous profession...people get really emotional about their stuff being taken, even if the bank does have the legal right to do it. Usually it's a scumbag used car lot as opposed to a bank, the kind that operates like a payday lender.

They do. They get it out far enough to get wheels under an axle and off they go. They can also release the parking brake from underneath.

GTogre has plenty of examples of people getting car towed after parking illegally.
