They should do a retro-Bond. Have a movie set in the early 60's so there is more freedom with the story tropes--throw in a few "cutting edge" gadgets, some Bond girls and a cool car.

Besides the actors that did play 007, I have no idea who these people you are talking about.

I’ve preferred the grittier Bond characters. As of late he’s gotten too soft. The character is a spy, assassin, womanizer, and functional alcoholic. Sort of like a real life Archer.:D

I would go with Chris Pine, Christian Bale or maybe Orlando Bloom. AI to help with a British accent if needed though Pine and Bale could pull one off with coaching I am sure.

Christian Bale would not need a whole lot of coaching, he is British. People forget that since his American accent is so good.
Just like Hugh Laurie, of House M.D. Watch him on "Blackadder" or "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" to experience his real accent as well as his comedy chops.

Wow, interesting thought. I bet she could pull it off. Cool, methodical, has a hidden dark side, mysterious….

Multi 21.

Thanks, yeah, I obviously never would have guessed he was British.

Watched Blackadder 30 years ago. Loved that show.

Uh. I think the comment was made in jest.

(per Wiki which randomized the timeline, as did I):
George Lazenby - nice guy reacting to bad situations, maybe too nice
Sean Connery - bratty little sh** you had to keep watch over at parties
Roger Moore - the name is dapper, very old dapper, i will be your waiter tonight and we have a fine selection of wine available
Pierce Brosnan - same
Timothy Dalton - a little more edgy and motivated, desperate eyes, not sexy to married women at all, getting closer to the center of the Venn Diagram
Daniel Craig - SSRI action jackson thug trying to find his roots and mommy

These I never hear about, nor care to:
Bob Holness
Michael Jayston
Barry Nelson
David Niven -action star, really?
Toby Stephens

^^
David Niven served in the British Army during WWII with a special reconnaissance unit so he's got some cred.

varmint 03-13-2025 01:21 PM

No, I’m serious.

Dinklage, the perfect bond. Just cgi stretch his ass.

Peterson, snappy dresser and an intellectual savage. Maybe next dr who.

Plaza, sexy murder eyes.

WPOZZZ 03-13-2025 01:36 PM

Kelly Reilley. As Beth Dutton, she drinks, smokes, fights, fcks and looks good dressed up. She also has the killer instinct.

yellowperil 03-13-2025 01:36 PM

David Niven, no no no no plus he's dead

Niven was in the movie Casino Royal, Fleming's best book. Niven played Sir James Bond

The book was great, that movie with Niven was dreadful, un
watchable. I saw it way back in the 60's and I cried. I'm sure Fleming cried too !

john70t 03-13-2025 02:51 PM

A 1960's movie can't be made today.

It can.
But there will be um 'problems'.
Authenticity mostly.

He would be great. His Batman movies were the last decent ones.

Bale came to mind for me as well. One of my all time favorites. His work in The Fighter is epic.

He'd be good for a 002 prequel.
