I figure it can't hurt the engine...so why not leave it on?
I've never had anyone that viewed the engine ask about it....but I've told many what it's for. Also my oil temp gauge has never been more than halfway up....driving in MI prob helps. It's much easier to get on the new filter before the filter is screwed on. Tight clearance with the air intake.
