Passenger jet has to "dodge" a B52
I'll bet that was exciting!
Just the description by the pilot, no video of the B52 or anything. That would have been cool. I'm guessing that other pilots treat a B52 like a person in a car should treat a freight train or semi.

I've witnessed that same thing within a half mile of me. Well, who knows the actual distance looking at planes in the sky. But when you hear one taking off cutting his engines, you do look up. The airport denied anything happened until the airliner pilot reported the incident at his destination, Phoenix. Why do I know? I called the newspaper and they called the airport. So they didn't print the story until 3 days later.
These are your airports, folks. |

Those incidents always puzzle me. Our little 2004 Cessna 182T has the MANDATED by the FAA in class B airspace the ADS-B system. It shows us every aircraft in the air and it shows them where we are. We can set it just a few miles away or many miles away, but who really cares what aircraft doing 40 miles away.
It shows us airliners overhead at 35,000 feet and that is in no way a danger. If any aircraft is on a course that might get close to us, it starts beeping and then saying a warning. We can see the tail number and type of aircraft, and talk to them or the ATC. So we would have known it was getting close and taken measures long before it is an issue. I know the airlines have a even more advance system. I assume the Air Force has a similar system. How is it possible for near misses to happen?
