Chi Com Spark Plugs

Months later I’m finally getting to this project. First owner gave up and put it on Craigslist. Cheap Chinese two stroke engine. I want to put in a shorter plug. Two auto parts stores and the chainsaw place can’t ID this thing. Any ideas?

Why a shorter plug? NGK B6HS is similar but apparently has longer tip, could be a problem with piston clearance.

Maybe check with a chain saw shop?

Zero space. Had to pull the engine to get the damn plug out. This is a kids bike with a grown up size motor. First guy did a beautiful job on the paint, but ****ed up the drive sprocket and rear wheel. Then used the bigger hammer approach to making everything fit.

Already been to the stihl place. And the internet is disturbingly vague.

Might have to go at this the hard way.

What thread is on the plug? Length of thread? Overall dimensions of the rest of the plug?

Looks like the same plug type used in my 68 BMW R60/2 (short thread).

NGK B7HS. Worth a try.

No idea. But I am a serious fan of NGK. Only brand I buy.

I understand the desire to get it running, but then what? It looks like the kind of piece you hang on the wall and look at.

From what I can find the L8C is the equivalent of a NGK B6HS or Champion L82C.

From a motorized bicycle forum "NGK-BR6HS is the most widely used replacement plug for the Chinese crappy Z4C and the Z8C S/Ps."

I'd swing by Lowes or Tractor supply with the one you have and compare it to what they offer in the small engine department.

Eventually we’ll have grandkids. They’ll come up for the summer. The plan is to send them home after a few months with a bunch of new swear words and some scars. This is the scars part of the plan.

I’m also pissed off that a bunch of things so simple, a bicycle and a crap two stroke motor, have combined to confuse me. I a m going to win this somehow.

You could always walk into an auto parts store where the old guy behind the counter would use his 40 years of experience and say "Oh I think I know exactly what you need, hold on for a minute while I go back and look around for it".

I do recall short spark plugs being used in 4 stroke lawnmowers with flat heads...maybe early Briggs Stratton stuff.

Spec out the threads and narrow it down.
