I have been living in a cave.

It seems that I have missed the fact that it is easy and simple to listen to books narrated by pros.

I am sort of floating on cloud nine with a serious literature buzz at this moment.

I just finished listening to To Kill A Mockingbird narrated by Sissy Spacek. And wow. This may in fact be my most favorite piece of fiction now. It is such an incredibly beautiful piece of prose.

I have read the book a few times in the past, but I had never listened to the audiobook version.

It is better. Much better.

So what else should I put on my list? I am a convert.

I had forgotten all about listening to books, thanks for the reminder. Congo was a favorite 20+ years ago.

I think it was read by Judith Ivey after doing some googling on old versions. We actually had cassette tapes!!!

Under the Skin is a favorably disturbing Sci-Fi book and movie.

A brutally attractive alien lures in men and they think they are going to visit her special purpose. They end up suspended in a large pool of transparent goop and are eventually turned into human slush that is collected and sent off to the controlling aliens in some far off place. That's the Sci-Fi part.

Throught the movie, the attractive alien sees that humans care for each other and questions what she is doing.

Really worthwhile if you have a little patience. Movie and the (audio) book. I loved both.

Still from movie:

I think there was a movie or mini series based on that. Talk about turning the tables...

The Under the Skin actress shown above is Scarlet Johanssen. Some skin is shown - but there's also some male skin

Seahawk with Dickens! That sounds perfect!

I may do Moby Dick as well. I "read" it in HS, but when you are focused on quantity over quality, lots gets lost.

My wife loves audio books, so do her parents. I love to read but I HATE being read to (always have, dunno why), so I don't listen to audio books. I listen to music.

Women, in my experience, LOVE being read to in bed. The Little Prince is a winner.

Just started Huckleberry Finn. Funny, I recalled lots of it word for word. Iconic. Have some Dickens on hold. Good times.

WHere are y'all getting your ebooks these days, audible still the main place.

Under the skin was very good, artsy sifi is my fav though.

Got my MBA in 2011, had to reed a ton of books. Many of the books I listened to since I had to drive to austin 2x per month. I noticed that I had much better retention of the books I listened to than the ones i actually read. Was very apparant since we were tested on the material

I tried to watch the movie. I love Sci-Fi and SJ. I didn't get very far. Maybe I'll try it again.

Perfectly ok to not like that one. I don't think there is a middle ground.

FWIW - I would love to listen to Huckleberry Finn.
