Selling my ‘87 G50 3.2 sunroof Coupe

Soliciting ideas and thoughts only at first.
I want to sell/trade my car. I won’t part it.
What is the best way to send a “kit car” to a new home?
Interested in a TR-6, Z-car, VW Thing, Classic Mini or maybe a ?

Got my car in 2015 w/113k miles (no title in Maine) now has 126k. Doesn’t leak oil.
In ‘17 or ‘18 we did a few very spirited laps at a Make a Wish event at a track in Tamworth, NH. The car was simply amazing.
Later I dropped the eng/trans to replace the shift coupling, adjust the valves, install Boxster brakes, new booster and MC, and do a general look see. I ended up replacing the clutch and a host of other parts.
When I pulled the valve covers I found 3 broken cylinder studs and only one nut. My guess is the PO found the issue and sold it to the (another story) guy in Miami I bought it from.
In 4/2019 I hit something in the road, lost the left rear tire and did a light rollover in the snow. No glass broke.
Found a local guy here in Maine who was a Porsche body guy in Rhode Island and moved up. Long story short, the man unfortunately passed away before my car was done.
When I got the car back some body work had been done. Aside from paint, the car needs the roof skin repaired or replaced (I have a good roof), drivers rear quarter repair finished. The car only has one small rust spot on the drivers door sill. It’s rusty, not rotted. The LF tire looks crooked and I have spare struts.
The car starts right up with some smoke after sitting. Subsequent starts are smoke free.
Right now the car is apart, interior stripped, heater box out to survey dash wiring,
The car yard drives fine, brakes, clutch, steering OK.
Lots of additional parts.

Be realistic about the price. It sounds as if it needs a a lot of work.

Document it with dozens of photos, a better, more thorough description of what has been done (and by whom) and what it still needs.

List it for sale here, on Ebay, wherever you like. When you sell it, buy the next one on your list.

I wouldn't look for a trade, that's limiting your market too much.

There is a marketplace forum here where many members with a very good sense of the market frequent. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Sounds like an interesting and worthwhile project for somebody with the right expertise. Considering how much ambiguity there could be on the price I would suggest either Bring A Trailer or an EBay auction. BAT is very selective and will probably push for a no-reserve auction, and they tend to be backed up for weeks if not several months. eBay will allow you to set a reserve if desired, but doesn’t seem to bring the top dollar prices that BAT sometimes does. As JR said, take LOTS of pictures and supplement with videos, especially of the engine running and car being driven.

I have been surprised at some of the pricing for project cars on BaT recently, there was an SC sold recently, good measuring stick. A ton of people can't afford a $60K Carrera but these same ones can afford a $40K one that needs some assembly. And some even prefer it that way.

It makes sense, the old rising tide raises all ships thing. When buying a nice finished car becomes too expensive, projects get more appealing. Frankly I prefer a project car because I can do it my way, for better or worse.

Most buyers in this market aren't looking for a car in this condition, but that said, 20k.
