Facebook Marketplace rant/question

I occasionally put stuff on FB Marketplace if I think the local market is better for something, or I don't want to ship it. Usually I have no problem (except for dealing with an endless parade of idiots) but sometimes I want to sell something with a designer label. Today, it was a few sport coats from Armani, Zegna, Hugo Boss, etc.

So, I list the crap for sale and FB responds by refusing the listings. Their AI or reviewing idiot (no idea if a real person looks at the ads) tells me I'm trying to list counterfeit products.

No, assholio, it's legit stuff (from Neiman Marcus, no less.)

So I request a review which doesn't give me the choice I need for why I'm disputing it, which is "Facebook ****ed up."

I get 3 useless choices like "it was a joke" or "it's not offensive in my area."

How do I get around this?

Good luck. I suspect you're foxed.

I suspect they have filters for those words. Write the description on a card and include pic of the card with the pics of the items items, instead of typing it into the ad.

I've seen people do that to get their phone numbers and email addresses in the ads.

Save yourself the grief and donate the stuff. Much more rewarding that having unpredictable walks-of-life show up at your doorstep. And safer.

ok tABBY.. move along!!!!

I get it. Totally frustrating.
I ordered a wheel bearing off amazon. (a non pelican part item). Amazon/seller promised it by certain date. Didn't come in. Turns out, seller doesn't have it in stock, needs to order it themselves before they can send it out. Several weeks later (item still not "sent"-was estimated by prime at 2 days), Amazon ask me for feedback. I nail em.. "Seller selling stuff they don't have in stock. Don't trust estimated delivery date. "

Amazon refuses my feedback, saying "seller has no control over shipping"-as if there was a snow storm or something that boinked the delivery truck. Nope. BS. They never had the product to begin with.

Babysitting not appreciated- especially when "they"- amazon asked for the feedback that "they" Amazon stated would be there in 2 days when the seller was just a reseller without the stock talking s#$% from some parent's basement in NOVA without the goods.
Heart beats irregular, step away from computer.
Item still not here

If it shows up as a dropship with any seller other than the seller's name in the paperwork that comes with it check the amazon marketplace rules on dropshipping.

Last time I had to deal with seller shenanigans and dropshipping I got refunded.

Thanks. Good to know. I am working on being in a happy place with serene little looney tunes birds flying around me to keep a smooth heart rate. Your tidbit is a happy little note dropped into the peaceful serene garden of my perfectly happy mel blanc soul.

The item should show up this weekend. I will probably go buy it from a laps to support them tomorrow. Just because.

Thanks again, R.

Here's the weird thing. I started this odyssey a couple weeks ago. Wrote one ad, title was Designer Sport Coats, or the like. Had all the brand names in the description, photos included the labels. No problem placing the ad.

Sold a couple coats, had two left in the ad. Decided to write individual adds for another couple coats. Brand name in the title and description, label pics in the photos section. Ermenegildo Zegna ad was fine. Armani ad got rejected. So, added pics of the Armani jacket and label to the original ad (which had another Armani jacket in it already) and changed nothing else. Now, they didn't like that ad all of a sudden. Ad gets kicked.

I look for other Armani crap advertised and see ads from everybody and their dog.

WTF?

Rules are still the same as when I looked at them when dealing with a foul misleading re-seller years ago.

Essentially, Amazon rules are written in a way that if it isn't clear what arrived is from the seller than technically the order becomes a no show.

In my case I had a seller possibly send me a $7 single CD when I'd ordered a three CD + big book special addition album for $80. I had to ship it back to them at my cost and they could charge a 50% restocking fee that might have put me out $40 + return shipping.

The French Canadian ordered from amazon.uk to fulfill the order and their seller name was no where in the packaging that arrived. It stupidly had a "gift note" mentioning what might have been the seller's real name that the drop shippment included.

It arrived a month late on top of all that.

Once I realized the rules on drop shopping it took two phone calls but I was escalated to executive customer service on the second call and things were taken care of.

Most of the time I do OK on FB marketing. Then there are the other times ...

I just sold a POS light/fan on FB Marketing. (We've lived here 6 years and finally getting around to remodeling the kid's rooms.)
Anyway, the guy says he'll be here at 4:00. I put off an errand at 3:30 because I wanted to be here at 4:00. I give him my number and tell him to TEXT me to keep in touch, as I don't have FB on my phone. At 5:00 I check FB and sure enough, he posted that he'll be "a little late." 6:15 the ahole shows up and wants to know if my asking price is the least I'll take.

I have tried to sell a used ceiling fan for $50, for over a year. No interest, apart from some idiot chick who keeps asking if it a particular, new model that she is apparently looking for. Never mind that it is clearly not, as anyone with a functional brain could tell from my description and photos (it's literally nothing like the one particular model she's trying to find) but the fact that she's apparently living in a real life Groundhog Day and can never remember all of the times she's already asked about the stupid thing.

For what it's worth, my ceiling fan is far more pleasing to the eye than yours. Good luck with your sale.

I had a nice Baumeister Orchestral Grand piano I had posted for free on the local 411 FB page.

Didn't get any interest after a few days so was going to put it on FB Marketplace "free items".

Then I noticed about 8 other pianos, organs and player pianos posted months ago with no activity.

A co worker grabbed it for his daughter. It was a nice 2 owner piano made around 1900.

I've heard that pianos are nearly impossible to get rid of, even for free, because they are such a pain to move, big, heavy, etc...

Pianos are a pain to move and require tuning afterwards so it is hard, but not impossible, to sell an older upright piano.

I haven't figured out how to get in touch with an actual person at Facebook but I may have solved this particular problem.

I played around with some new ads and it seems that the issue is (sometimes) with a photo of the label in the jacket. They don't seem to care about what's in the title or the description but their not-very-intelligent review sometimes flags the labels as "counterfeit." WHY? No effing idea.

I'd still like to figure out the original question, as I've had other things that have been rejected for one stupid reason or another, even though others seemingly have no problem when they do the same thing.

Ooh, that's a cool fan, but out of date. You need Torpedo bat shaped blades. lol
