Chinese EV, HiPhi Z
https://youtu.be/zKLNrENnwlc?si=ClxOswfGDr0sPwxL
I had the keys to one of these vehicles at the Hyundai R&D center parking deck. They have lots of competitors' vehicles stored at the parking deck, and we were given keys to several vehicles. This EV from China was the last set of keys to be offered, and no one wanted the keys, so yep, I ended up with them. Funny thing when the group saw the vehicle, they all came running over to check it out. I must say, it was a very interesting vehicle for sure. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |

It’s ugly and it has a touch screen. Both hard NO for me.
You have to take your eyes off the road and poke around on the touch screen just to adjust the steering wheel? Are you f**king kidding me? |
I passed a GWN Haval H6 on I10 the other day. Not the same thing, but I was surprised to see a Chinese car on our roads.
|
Reminds me of a cross between a Cadillac and Ferrari FF from this angle.
It's not the ugliest thing out there. Some angles aren't too bad. The rear is pretty bad. https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploa...y=82&strip=all https://marketplace.china-crunch.com...943&width=1946 https://i.ytimg.com/vi/PVqtq73ZEzc/hq720.jpg |
What happens to parts availability and resale value if China invades Taiwan?
|
Surly they'll run out of ugly sticks after a while?
|
At $25K....it'll sell fast.
|
Cars will be treated like cell phones.
Crap out every 2 years. Upgrade to a new model. Wouldn't be surprised that with this new players car ownership is over. It will be a rental subscription lease type of thing. Who knows |
CCP is currently dumping a glut of unsold EVs all over the world, in some cases selling new cars as new. Trying to tank the market and drive existing manufacturers out or bankrupt them. Thats the sort of thing you can do with slave labor and state ownership.
I could care less about this thing, but I’m not in the market for a Tesla either. Just another EV full of screens that looks like an ugly spaceship. |
I can't imagine driving a car mad of Chinesium steel.
Have those ugly things passed the national crash standards? Where would one get them serviced? I would not have one if it was offered to me free. |
as a second run about town car - for a dirt cheap lease (and by dirt cheap i mean $100 a month) - i'd consider it. NFW would i buy one.
i'm not a fan of electric cars, so china dumping loads is funny to me. just recycle the batteries into shavers or something. |
I've ridden in a few different Chinese EV's and crawled over some high end ones in a Bangkok mall. Sure they're not Porsche's but they're hard to beat for the money and make it almost pointless for European, Japanese, or American manufacturers to try to compete. Unfortunately I predict it will soon be like cell phones were manufacturing in western countries will not be financially feasible.
