My BMW may be mis-badged.

This is a weird one. A few weeks ago I bought a CPO 2022 530i at the local dealer. I love it, no complaints.

Just today I noticed that the badge on the trunk lid is 550i. I didn't even know they made one now. I think the current version of those is called the M550, which mine certainly is not. I can't see any mods on this car and I can't believe a dealer would sell a car as a CPO with the wrong badge on it. When I Google the VIN, it is indeed a 530i. What should I do about this?

Would a dealer allow such a car to be sold as a CPO? And I still don't think there is a 2022 550i. It's called an M550, which my car certainly is not.

Shoddy QC that slipped through the cracks. No one looked at the trunk badge because they are going by the VIN and what the car is. Presumably, the dealer sold it as a 530i, so they did not misrepresent it. Some previous owner was a poser and did something stupid that they didn't catch because 530i and 550i look almost the same and all they did was wash/wax around the emblem.

Last fall my guy bought a Jetta at auction badged front and rear as GLI. He knew it wasn't as none were produced that year. However it took several months to get a proper grill. The exhaust had also been swapped out for straight pipes. The car was a turbo 1.4.
People do weird ....stuff.

People do funny things. In the ‘60s some Fords came with the “FORD” badge as 4 individual letters. So naturally there were a lot of “DORF” cars running around after a few years.

A very “impress the neighbors” family at my kids’ school had a base model Tahoe that they (or perhaps someone else) had rebadged as a Denali. Except they didn’t change the grill, trim, wheels, etc. Probably fooled the non car savvy folks.

Technically, PP is a BMW forum. And since this is OT, then pretty much anything can be discussed.

Yeah, some folks even talk about Dodge Neons in a thread about Porsches under $10k.
Go figure.

Our BMW is for sure mis-baged
Everywhere in it, on it, under it, around it, it says BMW, yet, on the outside, it says something silly.
It says GR supra!
