Whats your laundry situation look like ?
1). Washed, folded, hung , and put away every week?
2) Laundry done, laying all over couches , laundry room, and bedrooms unfolded in Piles ? 3) Never ending baskets of laundry waiting to be washed, overtaking rooms and laundry room? Single guy here, I like to keep my house fairly neat . However, I keep pretty busy with life, work and side projects . for the last month , clean laundry had taken over my living room, waiting to be folded. The dog and cat love it and sleep on it, so it needs laundered again . I finally blasted it out over the weekend, but it took most of my Saturday . It always gets done , eventually , most times, I keep up on it weekly , but sometimes, it will just pile up for a few weeks or so . They say death and taxes are the two things you cannot escape, but laundry and dishes are worth an honerable mention

Number 1.
My wife keeps up with some laundry through the week. Friday is wash all the towels, bed sheets, and all dirty clothes. The only time I can leave a shirt or shorts out in my office is if I am working in the yard or my garage in my old worn out clothes if a project just came up. And yes, I do help with the laundry, and hanging up my clean clothes.

Number 2. Hahahaha But seriously, mine is a mix of 1 and 2. My wife tried a few years ago to try a new folding style with my clothes that are larger than hers. It didn't work.

I wash my own clothes. I have certain work shirts that I machine wash but hang dry. Everything else is dried in the dryer. I hang most things, even T-shirts. I am very particular about the work shirts that I hang dry. They are 100% cotton button-up shirts with button-down collars. I place them on hangers and button the very top button and make sure the collars are all nice and crisp. Yeah, I don't expect anyone to do this, so I just take care of it myself. I fold my jeans right after drying so that they aren't wrinkled. I put my socks together, and I even fold my boxers.
Towels and linens are all taken care of by my wife. She folds the towels a specific way that I have never mastered so... she does that. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

My clothes don't even hit the ground before my wife grabs them and puts them in the wash.

Fred, if I were you - single, working, kids, household chores, etc., I'd spring for a housekeeping service or laundry service. I'm sure you can find one that does a good job at a decent cost. Your time is worth more than you'd probably have to fork out for the service and time/effort savings. Yo're worth it. Think about it, shop around and give it serious consideration. You don't necessarily have to invest in a wife to split the chores with.

When I was single, I did a lot of "omni loads" and had some funny colored underwear.
When we got married, I was declared incompetent to do the washing on my own. Darn the luck. So I do help with the drying and hanging up of clothes. I have very few items to fold. All of my shirts, jeans and such are hung up in my corner of the closet. My wife has the other 10 feet of closet space.

Not because I screwed anything up, but my Wife must do 15-20 loads a week and it's just the 2 of us. She loves and insists on doing all the laundry, separated properly, folded and hung up, t-shirts hanging and separated in the closet by color. She even washes the sheers on the curtains every 3-4 months. Bed linens twice a week. That's life with a German Wife. Oh,...and anything bought new needs to be washed first to get rid of the "Fertigungsstaub".....

My 1st year of college was the 1st time I did laundry on my own. The 1st week there,I bought a nice burgundy colored polo shirt with the college name and emblem on the front. I threw it in the washer along with all my other clothes and my tighty whities....... Which all came out pink.
My mother got a good laugh out of it when I came back home for the end of the semester. It wasn't funny to me.

#1 all the way for me. I’ve been doing my own laundry since I was a kid….I like to control the process - out of dryer and folded the minute the dryer is done! I’m a bit particular about some things, lol…

I toss my dirty laundry on the floor of the closet until I get enough or need more clean clothes, then I do a load of that color.
Clean old t-shirts, underwear and socks go in a basket in the closet, nice t-shirts and jeans get folded and put on the shelf, button down shirts and slacks go on a hanger. I pretty much need to put everything away after they come out of the dryer as I have no place to put them otherwise.

Here is what I learned as the child of a Spanish Mom:
"If you want it washed and dried, organize your laundry like you wear it....I am not your maid." To this day, I make sure anything I put in the laundry can go directly in the laundry without any fumbling around with sleeves and reversing t-shirts, etc...do that before. Huge time saver. Laugh, but every woman I have ever lived with has commented that I may have issues...

I have been doing laundry since I was a kid. Good shirts are air dried and ironed, tees and Polos I use a folding jig and If I am in the mood I will iron my skivvies, just like in OCS.
I do it every week.

Single here too, Fred. But I don't have as much responsibilities as you do with your fam and business stuff.
So I keep up with mine pretty good. Dirty goes into machine and I do my washing at least a couple times per week. Typically pull it out when dryer stops - fold - and put away. Unless I fall asleep. Which has known to happen....

When I was single, I treated the dryer as an extra dresser drawer.

I had to do my own laundry as soon as I went in the army. I washed maroon socks with my white underwear and then had to deal with the scourge of pink underwear.
Our pastor’s wife in Virginia had 5 kids and said she loved mowing the lawn. Reason: it was the one thing she did that lasted a week! |

When I moved here in 1988, the place I rented did not have a W/D, a bit of a bunker but it was waterfront and I was happy. I am doing my laundry at the Wash, Dry and Drink Laundromat and see that they offer wash and dry services, folded, by some monetary metric I was willing to pay for: Once a week, pick up and drop off. Heaven.

In my previous marriage, I worked and wife did not. She did the household work (poorly) to include my laundry. Once she started shrinking my clothes or leaving random bleach stains on them, she was relieved of that duty.
