Welcoming myself to the cardiac club....

Big round of applause for....

ME....

Tracking a misbeat for about a month or two. Every 2-3 beats skips.
I worked out caffeine, energy drinks, even etoh, parf, corporate news product channels, stocks, etc...

Turns out it's pvcs. My dad had a-fib so I guess I'm lucky.

My resting HR was in the 60's, so drop 15 bpm off that and I'm sucking wind at 45 or so bpm trying to go about my normal musings.

Talking is difficult.

Interestingly, riding my bike, the rate converts normal, and above 120 up to 178 (max hr) I feel great- until the rate drops below 120, and the misbeats start again.

My heart is like an old school 2 stroke engine that runs like a scalded dog at full throttle but can't idle worth ****e.

So, when I go out and ride, I really DONT want to stop.

My angry white male has caught up to me.

Eff' this.

As I wear a cardiac monitor, I am reminded to "hit a button" when I feel bad.
on my first night, I mentioned "I always feel bad"- so I told them I'd hit the button when I feel good. In the last day, the heart was normal for 20 minutes riding full out up a local climb.

that's some weird stuff right there.

Watch out angry white males...

PVCS?

My oldest son had a similar issue as a teen and had to have a heart cath procedure done. Same deal, he was very healthy and had no issues when exercising. Take care of yourself!

I assume you have seen a cardiologist.
Likely get a cardiac monitor for a while.
Pacemaker may be in your future.
Good luck

Had lots of PVCs for quite a while. Bigeminy, trigeminy... . Net effect is cardiac output suffers and so, tissue perfusion suffers. My answer was giving up caffeine for the past 3-4 months. Fixed it and lost 25lbs without trying. Caffeine kept me awake but I was eating because I was still tired. Ymmv.

Welcome to the club. I had to wear a Holter monitor for a few days to diagnose. I guess you really do have some leaky seals!

I have a plugin for youtube I use called channel blocker.

Reduces some of the negatives of youtube but still not the greatest as there's always more negative channels out there.

How are you on electrolytes?

Water - intake 'n' retention?

Ever notice it is with you more in one location or another?

Does being around a heavily perfumed person bring it on?

Typical American diet is vastly under supplied for electrolytes.
Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and Sodium are all important.
Potassium is generally always under-supplied in specific, and the others can be as well.

In addition to whatever fresh vegetables, lettuce leaves, and fruits are availible; I always start with a baseline of 1lb's of frozen broccoli each day. - That helps with the potassium side.

Potassium is not a great thing to get from supplements and is best had from eating lots of the right things.

Interesting.
I work out a bit, and if anything, have cut out supplements.
Basically, I would eat Nuun tablets for lunch. Ca,Mg, K, etc...
My assumption was I was eating "too much"

Perhaps- not enough.

The cardiologist told me I wouldn't die. No restrictions-
In the interest of experimentation, why not supplement these? I have done everything to cut down on them

I am on a 7 day cardio monitor. Trying some of these would be an interesting experiment in the name of science.

If I croak- I blame YOU!!!

Just kidding.. but I think this is more than a simple imbalance. I screwed the pooch somehow. I will try this though. I've been on the monitor for 2 days. I can tell you they know all they need to know at this point. With 5 days, left, I want to bet the farm and convert hubble to IR frequencies to see if we see anything new.
Thanks. R

I’ve had PVC since September 2001. I was 29. I felt the skipping one night and used my stethoscope and heard it. Freaked out and drove myself to the ER. Never went away. I try not to take the atenolol since I’m so used to the skips but sometimes it is so bad that it keeps me from falling asleep so I’ll take one. The last year it has been a daily thing and hard to control. Not sure why but it is aggravating. My dad has it too. He takes the atenolol daily and isn’t bothered by the skips.

I’ve tried to describe the sensation I get but best I can say is….i feel a pause followed by a few rapid beats followed by a skip/pause followed by a big beat with a slight sensation of blood surging everywhere and then normal for a minute or two and it repeats….during a bad spell this happens many times an hour, all day for months. I’ve had periods of time where months went by and there were no skips. Never could correlate to any behavior or diet etc…

I'm cool with the skips if I'm in bed and thinking buddhist ****e, but on the job, it's kicking my butt. Then, it I really work out, it gets better, but I'm gonna need a strategy on this one.

Evidently, it's pretty common. Sorry to hear you/your dad have it. R

It’s happening right now. So annoying. The blood rushing when the beat kicks back in is the worst of it. I especially feel it (blood surging) around my temples. When it’s happening while I am reading, I actually lose my place in the sentence and have to start over ….it sorta makes my eyes blink too

I read for work so….it sucks. I would like to say you’ll get used to it but honestly, I’ve never gotten used to it. It’s when I’m sitting, in a more relaxed state, that it is the worst. When I’m mowing the lawn, not so much….

Yep, I've got it too. I've had folks marvel that I must be a marathon runner because my rate drops down into the high 30s to mid 40s at times.

I guess I'm lucky, I'm asymptomatic. I feel completely normal all of the time and can do whatever. I hope that doesn't change.

I'm similar but less extreme. Mine only does it if I'm at rest, but as soon as I start to move, it clears.

Good luck, I hope they are able to fix you up somehow. I'll consider myself lucky that mine does not impact me.

I don’t know how it compares to mitral valve prolapse, which I have, but every once in a while I can feel a skip. It’s really noticeable when I’m trying to relax, reading or trying to go to sleep. It feels like my heart is going to stop. Of course, then I start panicking. When it does happen, I have to get my mind busy, to stop thinking about it.

My electrophysiologist calls it a fluttering. Beats the crap outta me but it does not feel like fluttering. When it happens I just feel like scheisse.

Well you guys have made me feel better about myself again. A few months ago, my doctor thought he saw something in an ekg he had ordered (happy 70th) and ordered up a stress test. It was cool being on the treadmill and watching the various traces on the monitor be regular as a metronome. Even better when the cardio doctor said he will likely never see me again.
Hope they can get you straightened out, Leaky.

Best
Les
