For the good stuff I open it then pour enough to get the level in the bottle below the neck. Then I let it sit for 30 - 60 minute before serving.
I love the 7Up and ice suggestion, that's the way my father used to drink the screw tops.

For a hearty red, mixing with Coke is the ticket. In college my South American student/colleagues claimed that it was magically "hangover-free". In my experience, it is very tasty and most certainly no less hard on the body than anything else (that's fun).

South American. He may have meant snort the coke then drink the red.

Question about opening wine

There’s also this method where you fill the jug from the tap.

We always decant red wines using an aerator bought on-line. Not identical to this one but very similar. I decant the wine into the container, then reverse the procedure and put the wine back in the bottle to serve it.

Do you just put the box on the shelf behind and over you so you can lean back and dispense right into your mouth at the push of a button?

A friend’s mom consumed her share and then some. A box lived in the refrigerator. Don’t know if her husband ever followed through on his promise of hooking it up the water dispenser on the door.

As far as I know: There is no downside to letting the wine breathe before drinking. It can only improve the flavor.

Wine decanting

I would then find the red wine had attracted too many fruit flies... Although it is protein.

A barman told me that an opened, but the top put back on after the glass is poured, is good for three days. After that throw it out.

He also said if you are an occasional drinker put the red wine in the fridge and give the glass of wine 10 or 15 seconds in the microwave. That way the bottle of wine is good for two weeks.
