someone I htink in Torronto was renting out spots in a parking lot, they had a booth to collect parkign from each customer and nothing appeard strange. they did it for their whole career and then retired after which it was discovered they didn't own the land, I htink it was on city property.
Ive heard of a few scams where people in appartment buildings rent spots, often they come along with with two spots so it was common to rent one if not used. well some are renting spots to which they have no entitlement. they would just choose a spot no one seems to park in and go ahead and advertise and rent it.
I read about one guy who figured out he could buy colectors coins in noce neat little collectable displays at face value.. he went ahead and bought lots of them, thousands of dollars worth,
next he would cash them in , since they were face value and legal tender, the bank could not refuse. he took no risk as his money was all in cash.
he got bonus points worth cash from his credit card company so what he was doing was making money on the award points.
it wasnt; illegal. he just found a little loophole. was he dishonest?
