Trying to pick wheels and tires for my Truck makes my brain hurt!

I think I've fried my brain on this one. My F250 has General Grabber ATX 275/70r18 tires on stock 18x8 wheels with a +40 offset (standard) and 8-170 bolt pattern. The tire diameter is 33.2 and width is 11. My truck is stock ride height, no lift or levelling kit. I've been searching for a combo that isn't going to require a speedo recalibration while also trying to avoid any potential for rubbing. My brain hurts.

I picked out, what I think, is a nice looking set or Fuel Quake Platinum wheels in 18x9 with a +1 offset and some Falken Wild Peak tires (not sold on load range E tires yet) but Tire Rack warns that this setup might require modifications to avoid rubbing. According to the Fuel website, these wheels are "sure fit"

Any tire and wheel gurus around here that can make the pain stop??

Does Tire Rack not have a recommended wheel offset? There are quite a few online tire/wheel size calculator tools that allow you to enter your original size and desired size and it will show you the difference in offset, diameter, and speedometer change. Here’s one of several: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

^^^ That’s the website I used several times to check tire/wheel combos in the past. It’s very accurate.

I would also add that the Tire Rack surveys and tire tests are quite good. I always use them for input when I’m picking out new tires.

This is where the head hurting starts. Tire Rack lists the combo I listed as my truck needing modification to fit. Tiresize.com shows new selection wheel and tire being flush with the fender and further away from the suspension. But it doesn't calculate the 9" vs 8' wheel which is what Tire Rack did in saying modifications would be needed. But even with 1" wider wheels, the new setup should be about .54" farther away from the suspension.

Here’s one that includes wheel width.

Here's the set I have one my Ford. 33/12.5/20s.

I'm regretting a bit, not going up to 35s to fill the wheel well little more.

is that how I should read it? I thought he said the +40 was standard? now my brain hurts. he wants to change it +1.

I know offsets (the tiniest bit) but thankfully, I dont buy wheels anymore. I want to, but I choose to put my money elsewhere.

That one seems to confirm what the tiresize.com calculator did. The thing wheel size mentions is "scrub radius" and that it will be positive 39mm.

I watch way too much of the Powernation channel on Roku. They've covered this on several truck builds.

The fitment issue Tire Rack is noting is the edge of the tire hitting either the edge of the front bumper, or the back of the fender when you turn the wheel. If you're not changing the tire size, you're probably going to be fine. If you're going to a larger tire, it might touch.

Personally, I wouldn't change the offset that much. But I see a lot trucks out there with similar wheels.

That's what I'm thinking too. Has to be a fender or bumper rub. With Ford wheels being a +40, the only options I have are +20 wheels from what I'm finding. And the issue is, I can't find anything in a +20 that I even remotely like the look of.... which makes my brain hurt more!!

I'm serious when I say that I've been looking at wheels for three days now.

First I have to consider color! My truck has that big fat chrome grill up front and not a speck of gloss black anywhere. Then, it has a big chrome bug deflector and window deflectors. Mind you, I HATE chrome! but that's how the truck was set up when I bought it used. It was a price point thing... I could look beyond the chrome accents. If I go matte black, then I need to do something with all the chrome. Hard to find matte black with a machined finish in a wheel I like. Everything is gloss black with machined finish. The wheels I picked are a nice balance for the truck IMO.

My brain hurts just reading this thread. Part of the reason I stick with stock wheels.

I'm almost to a point of tossing the idea of tires and wheels and just buying a new F250 Lariat Tremor. But that's 71K worth of pretty.

Just scribble some numbers on a check and POOF! all of my problems would go away. No more thinking about tire and wheel combos. No more thinking about upgrading my head unit to a larger screen. And best of all, I could start the truck from anywhere with my phone! Down side, my bank account wouldn't look as nice.

Tremor (have one as well) should be 35” factory on 18”. Did they change that?

Thank Vash. I've learned to like it. Also due the fact that I'm not about to go spend 4Gs to change them....

Right I read stock is +40 offset. going almost 40 away from that to 1 would be a drastic and likely poorly advised change.
