remember that Japan fish knife I bought? seasick question.
hahah..
I have yet to even take that knife out of the box. I have committed to using it on fish I catch. like a fool. I am going out on a friends party boat, since we only have to split the fuel. another friend is loaning me the deep sea rod and the terminal tackle. I have one job. not to puke on anyones shoes. one job!! I grew up in the desert. I like land. or small bodies of water surrounded by land. I have the prescribed motion sickness patches. I will put one on behind an ear when I wake up. instructions say apply four hours before the puke-fest. what else? ginger tea? big bong hit? pot-gummies? for the record, I have never gotten sick going after venison. ![]()

If the boat has a lower cabin don't go in, keep your eye's on the horizon. Don't fill you self with liquid. Eventually your brain will get use to the motion, then back on land feels strange. How big is the boat?

Focus on your shoes, not the horizon, or Bonine.

I also get motion sickness quite easily, so I pay attention to all the gadgets I see. I saw a pair of googles that have a fluid in them that apparently help your vision make sense of the motion?
Pretty sure that the guys would not stop mocking you though! Good luck, I feel for you.

I've never been afflicted with any sort of motion sickness, so all that I can add is "Good luck!"

I had crippling car sickness as a kid. Boats? Not really an issue for me (well, once...) I always get up outside and into the fresh wind. Look to the horizon - NOT the boat.

And make sure you stay up wind of the exhaust, nothing worse if you are on the verge of getting sick

Eat things that don't taste bad on their way back up. And if you do toss the cookies, tell the guys you're fishing with that you're just trying to help their fishing by chumming.

Hope your luck is better than mine the last time I went out on one of those boats. I just got crapped on by a sea gull. Didn't catch anything.

I rarely get motion sickness but my wife is easily overcome. We owned a sailboat for 20 years and did a lot of scuba dive trips on trawlers that have notorious motion at sea. She had a method to avoid getting sick and it was 90% effective. Eat a light breakfast in the AM, no garbage burritos. The patches help or Bonine tabs, ginger snaps, lots of fresh air, and eyes on the horizon.
Best of luck and I hope you bring home a nice catch.

I am afraid it is trial and error.
Try, I know this is hard, to relax and follow the advice others have posted, especially the horizon focus. I was fortunate that I never got shoe goo: ![]() ![]()

BTW;
The guys are going to be watching to see what kind of fish you catch. They will ask if it's first time you caught that type of fish. If you answer, this is my first one, they will expect you to eat the heart of that fish or the boat will get skunked. I had 3 guys on a Panga make me eat a Dorado heart the once and only time I admitted a first time catch. The fish tacos made uo for it.
