Sent an email. I think I can strap it to the roof of the Cayenne. It is a much better purchase.

Some 15+ years ago you could get these NOS for $1750 at Stoddard.

How's that 928 coming?

Shaun @ Tru6 05-20-2025 02:08 AM

Engine is at one of my customers who specializes in 928s. He's not Greg Brown but close.

Shaun @ Tru6 05-25-2025 07:33 AM

just picked it up, already sold.

Wait, you bought that car and have already sold it?

Those are later 997 wheels, looks like in good condition.

Shaun @ Tru6 05-25-2025 07:48 AM

Yes.

Long story short: I could have purchased for $6K. I declined and I told shop they could get $10K for it, just put it on FBMP. They talked with family and said you can keep anything over $6K if you sell it for them. I said OK. Sold for $10K instantly and to a good guy I know. Given the response, I could have withdrawn the ad and put back up for $15K and probably gotten that but greed is not really my thing.

Some people love the wider body on that, which gives it much better value than a narrow body 996, but still … Glad you didn’t buy it for yourself. I was also going to ask about the 928. LOL!

Generally I’d pay more starting out, at least get a car that’s a manual from the factory and ideally air cooled?

That was a smart move, I rarely do anything that smart. It's a great looking car and I could see people really going for it, of course there is a certain market for the tips or they would never have sold them in the first place. If someone has an engine for it or knows where to get one, it could be a real winner!

Congrats Shaun, sounds like everybody won in that transaction.

So you paid for the FLOOR by putting a car on a trailer and selling it before you even bought it.
Pretty slick!

speeder 05-26-2025 12:10 PM

The roof? He was looking at a floor pan. Kind of the opposite of a roof(?)

I might have withdrawn the ad just to get the full 5000 for the floorpan, not out of greed, per se, but just because I like symmetry of events that work out like that...

Doh!

You're right. It was a FLOOR!

I'll go change that now.

I can understand that sentiment. My sense is symmetry is a longer game and I like to let things play out, especially when it comes to things like this. I've been studying Buddhism a little on and off and like Gospels Jesus, wanting more than you have been given, when something is truly given like this car, is a barrier to inner peace and can be addictive and therefore destructive. My life focus has always been on positive addictive qualities like when you help others, in big and small ways alike, just because you are there, present, and can. Recognizing when you can help is the key. Those feelings of accomplishment and increased self-worth may be selfish at the core but they do spur you on to do more good works which ultimately spread and everyone wins.

Shaun @ Tru6 05-27-2025 02:26 AM

On the floor pan, I sent the guy an email asking where he was in CT saying I'll be in Stratford last Monday visiting a shop and would like to see it, and didn't get a reply.

Scott Douglas 05-27-2025 08:14 AM

Maybe he took the whole week off.

Hope you can get it.

There's also this option, althought it's about $11,500 more.
