Anyone here meditate?

I知 starting to get into it. Things are always hectic at work and the older I get, the less I知 able to deal with it and not have agita. Just some deep breathing is all I知 doing so far. There痴 a bunch of meditation moments on YouTube I知 going to try soon. You guys meditate?

Yes. Not all the time, but if I feel like I am letting the world get under my skin too much, I do. For me, its about bringing the things that are bothering me closer, not pushing them away.

Learned a lot from reading Pema Chodron's books.

Not what I would term "meditation" per se but my kid and I have been doing some mindfulness exercises, seem to be working well for us both when it's time to wind down from the day.

I used to sit outside on the grass at lunch in high school and pretend I was meditating. Always was good to start a conversation with some young lady who would wander up (they often felt themselves deep and transcendental...must have read about it is Cosmo). Hippies and free thinkers were cool in the land of crew cuts and brylcreem.

I was already mellow as Jello, because life was simple then...(before cell phones, the internet, bills, and deadlines). One day at a time of flippin' burgers and makin the scene.

If I want to relax/go to sleep now, I just read OT.

My meditation seems to only happen out in nature, alone, with no electronics, it restores my soul !

I was the family caregiver for 20 years including home hospice twice.
I was always curious and drawn to meditation but hadn't pursued it until I was free of those responsibilities.
Had I known the benefits I would have started 45 years ago back in college ball days like other athletes I knew.

Check into Headspace.
Builds a solid foundation on the basics then branches out to multiple areas from which to choose.

Does waking up and not moving, not wanting to get out of bed count as meditation?

If so, yes.

I used to. Now I practice being mindful when I do my morning stretches and strengthening exercises. I find that clearing my mind and focusing on the muscles and joints as they move is a meditative experience as well as being good for my body.

Mostly when I'm on two wheels, either the Raleigh or the Ducati. Talk about mindfulness!

I do ten minutes every night before bed. I do guided classes through the app Insight Timer. It helps clear my head before I lay down to sleep. I feel like I sleep much better now.

Sharon Salzberg is good (at guiding meditation). Many videos on youtube.

This was the first one that I found. It's a pretty good one. She talks about meditation for a bit (which is actually interesting) and then guides the group through several mins of meditation.

This is also an excellent video, especially for folks that are skeptical, but also folks that aren't. At one point he talks to a guy that is a little odd, but interesting. If you want to skip to that, go to about 4:30

When I tried, I just kept falling asleep. Way too boring for my mind.

For those who consider this too long to view, start at the 10:00 mark for the crux of the biscuit.
