The only amount that matters is the final hammer price. Two days out price means nothing, unless it doesn’t change, which would be rare over there.

The auction starts with 2 minutes left. No sniping, another 2 minutes are added after every last minute bid. I sold a car on BAT that went on for an hour after time was up. It was at 45k with a minute left in the auction and ended up selling for 65k. It just takes 2 people who want it at the end and one eventually cries uncle. My close is 1:17pm Saturday. I'll start paying closer attention at 1:00

Um....yes I realize that.

I've been successfully participating in auction transactions for 20+ years.

Decades of sales management....plus owned 2 businesses.

That alone doesn't make me some "expert".

It works as I described with desirable cars. With lesser cars the price could stay the same for days and then it's over. I sold a $4500 car that was a boring auction once. I have spent time watching some auctions that turn into a slug fest, it's good tv sometimes. Right now my car has 5,625 views and 1,113 watchers. One of the watchers will win the auction. Obviously not all watchers are serious buyers. Some have a similar car and are interested in the outcome, some are just wannabes and a few have the money and are serious buyers.

I get Honda motorcycle and Volvo car auction B.a.T. notifications. Nothing more.

I get notifications every day.

Most of them are of no interest.

But....I do follow others that are of interest.

I read the comments and always analyze how each auction ends.

Especially if there's a frenzy!

Which many times there is - but like you said, Greg. Not always.

Early in the thread I posted a guess of what the final price on this one would be. I always do that on the ones that interest me.

I guess it's like a guessing game but at some point I'd like to think there's an educational aspect as well.

When I posted my 2 day update earlier tonight - I wasn't trying to "imply" anything. Just like to keep certain threads on the 1st page - that's all.

BAT pops up on my phone at 5am every day. I like cars so it's interesting to see what's closing that day. I also like to keep up on values and what better way to do that? I'll be a little extra excited Saturday though!

Yeah, forgot to mention, I also get the Daily report each morning listing all the auctions that are ending that day. Sometimes I will sift through them real quick - sometimes not.

That's the way it worked when I sold my truck on BaT. I was resigning myself to only getting 20K out of it, but in the last few minutes it shot up to $36k.

Great examples are still pulling in good money. Two cars today, euro 1972 Porsche 911S Coupe for $207K and a modified 1969 Porsche 912 Coupe for $75K

I'm going to predict a low of $89K with maybe a high bid of $104K. I hope I'm under. MFI or Webers would have added $10K I think.

Thanks Shaun, I hope you're right. I just couldn't let it go for 69k 2 years ago. I think a rust free, ready to drive 67 that looks good should fetch more. (especially with fresh mechanics and suspension)

I'm a little surprised. The auction house must be too, they suggested an 88k reserve which i agreed to. Oh well, maybe i can reach a deal with the high bidder. It really is a great driving, rust free 67. I guess it stopped at 70k because it's not stock? and that's what buyers want? The car performs so much better in every way than it did in 1967 but the bidders have spoken.

I was expecting the reserve set by BaT. Only two things I can think of are the long weekend and the CIS.
