Yeah, i’ll be getting more, but need to eat them in moderation, which is hard to do because they taste so good.

Too much watermelon and I must be within 10 seconds of a toilet.

Cilantro. Beyond not being able to tolerate the flavor it somehow causes my blood pressure to fall off of a cliff. Es no bueno.

Pretty funny. Coming from the land of sheep and being allergic to them. But the joys of life with no arthritis are geed :)

Wow! Excellent! Also seems surprising to me. Lamb/mutton is available here, but fairly rare/unusual compared to beef, pork, and chicken.

Your story reminds me of something my parents joked about way back when when we were kids. We were driving through the Pacheco Pass--that agricultural valley that runs east from Gilroy to I-5. It's dotted with fruit stands. We had pulled over to one, and my parents were amazed at how inexpensive the prices were and wanted to buy several pounds of the cherries. One parent joked to the other (in Chinese, so somehow it's funnier): "Even if you sh t your pants [from eating so much], you still have to buy it."

LOL! That's funny.

I love hot peppers and eat them raw with my meal.
Now I get head sweats. Embarrassing when out with the boys eating suicide wings.

Interesting. I'd heard of folks that hate the taste. "Cilantro tastes like soap," is what I hear most commonly. In your case, it sounds like the genetic thing that causes you to not enjoy the taste works hand in hand with whatever causes it to crash your BP. It would be interesting if those were always together.

If I remember correctly...roughly 50% of the population has the "cilantro tastes like soap" gene. In the sample size of "my family," we only have 1...my daughter. Far from 50% but we're happy, as wife and I LOVE cilantro and I cook a lot of Mexican food.

It seems that you may not remember correctly (which supports your experience in your sample).

for those cilantro-haters for whom the plant tastes like soap, the issue is genetic. These people have a variation in a group of olfactory-receptor genes that allows them to strongly perceive the soapy-flavored aldehydes in cilantro leaves. This genetic quirk is usually only found in a small percent of the population, though it varies geographically. Interestingly, places where cilantro is especially popular, such as Central America and India, have fewer people with these genes, which might explain how the herb was able to become such a mainstay in those regions. East Asians have the highest incidence of this variation, with some studies showing that nearly 20% of the population experiences soapy-tasting cilantro.

I limit myself to only eating gummies and "special cookies" on days when I don't work the next day ;-)

Artichokes !!! I've always loved them, but recently I've began to produce large amounts of gas after eating them. My wife is forbidding me from eating them from now on. Can't blame her.
