NAPA no longer carries WIX filters

Doing a suspension refresh/upgrade to my 986S this weekend so decided while it's on the lift I will do an oil/filter change . Went to my local NAPA to get my WIX oil filter , clerk says they no longer carry them ???

He said the CEO's of both companies got into a pi$$ing match and they parted ways . According to the clerk their NAPA Gold filters are now made by Baldwin . Anyone else run into this ? I knew WIX stopped making the Gold line but this is the first I have heard they dropped WIX entirely . Bummer

Correct ........ our town doesn't have an O'Reilly . Have to drive one town over . I bought a K&N to get me by . I will have to stock up on WIX as both Porsche's take the same filter number .

How does Baldwin quality compare to WIX?

Without test data I don't think anyone knows . Unfortunately due to a global market quality varies . As an example Jake Raby ( FSI ) and Charles Navarro ( LN Engineering ) recommend the WIX # 51348 for both of my Porsche engines . BUT only if they are made in the US or Mexico . Their own testing shows the WIX filters made in China are inferior .

Baldwin is a good filter with SOME made in the US . They are a global player and who knows what the quality is for any made offshore . Having said that Baldwin is recommended by LN if the WIX isn't available .

OOF! I run Wix for my skid loader and excavator. Oreilly's sucks when trying to order for construction equipment. There's a farm store named Runnings that stocks Wix filters so I might have to go there. But there's always the buy online option.

I posted this on another forum and a guy from Oregon said his local NAPA still stocks Wix filters . So this makes me wonder is this a regional difference ? Or just burning down inventory ? Or is my NAPA counter guy wrong ?

I was told by the local NAPA that their branded filters were WIX.

I order most all of my filters and oils from amazon these days.

I’ve been pleased ordering from Fleetfilter.com for Wix filters.

They used to sell Wix-made, NAPA Gold filters, box and all, but it seems that is changing.

I would love to hear how the board of directors reacts to that. Little doubt, millions of dollars lost to other companies that still sell Wix. Giving away millions to competitors over a snit is not good business. both CEOs need a major pay cut.

^^^ I have no way of knowing if that statement is true , but that is what the counter guy told me . What I do know is my local NAPA store does not carry any WIX filters and can't order them . I know LN Engineering does a 100 % inspection on incoming WIX filters . Any they find made in China they return for US/Mexico made .

I may have to contact Fleet Filter to see what they are selling . Or I will drive one town over and buy from O'Reilly . That way I can see where they are made .

Is your local Napa store a franchise store?

I don't know for sure . I do know they have several locations and were NAPA many years ago . Then they stopped being NAPA . After a few years they became NAPA again . So they could be independent privately owned stores . I would think private or franchise would pull the same inventory from the same warehouses . But maybe not .

Any reason you don't use filters from Porsche?

Because Porsche doesn't make a filter for my setup . I have the IMS Solution installed on both engines and they take spin on filters .
