Seed to Bulb
Took me three years to get me some mule ear bloom. Found some of these in the mountains like 5 years ago that had been uprooted after a tree fall. They had bulb like roots that I collected and tried to rehab but they never took. So, a few years back I collected some of the flowers late in the fall for their seeds. and planted them around my landscaped areas...
A couple had a few flowers last year that kept me enthused.... But nothing like this year. Dug one up and the bulb root looked like a green onion... Will harvest seeds this year for the 1st time.... Will separate the ones with the fiery red center... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very cool. I've tried to do that several times but as yet no joy. I am great at propagating rhizomes but that is infinitely easier.
