Time for this thread, I think.

Do you have any fitness and/or weight loss goals? What’s your plan if there is one? Feel like posting updates here? Share as you wish!

Lost close to 50# last year. I’d like to lose 10 more.
Started running in September (ok more like jogging).

I’d like to first be able to run a whole 10k without needing to walk a bit at 8k, and then get the time to under 55:00.

I have been blessed with good genetics.

I walk the dogs for an hour every morning, and it makes me look like I work out

Long Slow Distance will only get you so far. Get on the track and do intervals, you will be finishing that 10k in no time. That under 55 is easier with intervals. Core workouts will help as well.

Wow Greg, that's great. I've lost about twelve pounds in the last couple of years - gone from 177 to 165. I don't think I want to lose much more.

From last May 1st, I have dropped 67lbs and counting. I can't jog/run anymore. Diet and bike for exercise. First 11 weeks also included generic Semaglutide. Stuff works, but don't do it unless under a doctor's care. There are significant side effects.

This is a little off the topic, but some of you may recall that a few years ago I had an episode of angina. That adventure revealed some issues that needed tending to. The one that really caught my eye was total cholesterol which was 210. Not dreadful but not acceptable to me.

So, after years of diet modification and trying to increase exercise, I can report that my total cholesterol was just measured at 163. My HDL is a bit low at 39 so I need to get that number higher, but I'm pleased with the 163.

Had our shepherd mix at the vet the other day . For 3 years old he's 70 pounds and the vet would like to see him 5 lbs lighter at the very least and 10 would be better . I am 5' 10" and 230 . So it's time for both of us to lose weight . Started yesterday with a one mile walk .

Will continue with 1 mile walks and gradually do more . My wife has joined in as well . We don't have specific goals for pounds lost just want better overall health . In a perfect world I can get to 200 .

There's a reason we cite terms like "little old man" and "little old woman".

Heaviest I have ever been was 174 about 5-6 years ago. I went on a major diet over about 8 months and got down to my 18 year old weight right after basic training of 147 lbs. At that weight, I had no gut anymore and felt great. 5'8" and 57 years old now... I am back up to 167. Just started my diet again after the holidays and hope to get down to 159 by my annual old buddies ski trip in March and then down to 155 for boating season this summer.

Black coffee in the morning. Salad for lunch. Normal well balanced dinner.
40+ sit-ups/pushups along with 10 pull-ups each morning. Elliptical machine a few days a week. Pickleball for two hours twice per week. I hate cardio exercise so my ticket to successful weight loss is mainly by eating 1200-1800 max calories per day.

It has been reported that statins can cause muscle myalgia and in some cases muscle wasting.

Gotta rehab a torn -surgically repaired bicep. so might take awhile to get back to normal core training.

Developed some bad habits after my wife passed --think im back to a decent diet and no more self medication(adult beverages)--- at least back to my old intake.

Figure to drop some weight and get more fit. I had my best year in decades workout wise in 23 while she was ill. Goal is to beat that. No reason not to.

Statins are nasty. Myalgia is part of it, but they interact with other meds in a bad way. Vast majority of the time, problem could be solved with diet, exercise and weight loss.

Most people want to take a pill. Eating oatmeal daily will drop your total cholesterol and improve your HDL/LDL ratio

They say to eat steel cut oats and not rolled oats if your going to eat oat meal. Still has the germ of the berry where the good stuff is
