The DCB205 is good but I’m guessing the number circled in purple isn’t. The other numbers are dates of production.

What’s frustrating is, “Christian” who always replies, doesn’t seem to be reading what I send to them. Christian keeps replying back with canned responses.

If those numbers aren't valid, it's a counterfeit battery. I'd run what you did on DeWalt's website, screenshot the result and forward that to Walmart customer service. I think they'll give you a full refund.

Mine is Korean Cells and Made in Mexico. My number is different from yours. I bought all of mine from Wallmarthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1755908998.jpg

Well, I tried again and it went through. I typed in DCB205 and went to the next line to enter the serial number. When I did enter the DCB205, there was a picture of the battery and I didn’t think to click on it. I did just now and now the batteries are registered.

A930Rocket 08-22-2025 04:40 PM

All my work batteries match look’s serial number type.

The batteries from Walmart have completely different serial numbers.

^^^^ Note the QR code on those batteries. Both sets made in 2025 but one set has no QR code.

Sweet! Now file a warranty claim.

Ha! After registering them, I clicked on Need Service and the link went to a 404 page. 🙄

If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t be having any luck at all

I filed it an earlier claim and am dealing with “ Christian” but will start another one now that the batteries are registered

A930Rocket 08-22-2025 05:02 PM

New warranty claim submitted.

I just took a photo of a random one from my stash. Will check the other 5 I have tomorrow. I threw out my back picking a towel from my washer and dryer, now have a difficult time sitting or walking. Those stupid little things will getcha

Oh man, that sucks. I tweaked my back picking up an air hose last year. Years of abusing our bodies is coming back to haunt us.

berettafan 08-23-2025 06:24 AM

Walmart's online ordering stuff is the Wild West. not at all trustworthy (or organized).

Yeah, it kicked my azz for a few days. I didn't realized how one's back affect us that much.

My back is good, always hired donkeys to do the heavy lifting. Last time I tweaked it was flushing the toilet 10 years ago.

After sending pictures, video and receipts, Dewalt replied they are sending me two new batteries and I should get them in about two weeks.

I’m surprised they didn’t say they are counterfeit and sorry Charlie, better luck next time. I'll cut open one of the batteries to see what’s in there.

On another note, it must be throw your back out season. A week ago, I went to work and did the usual stuff and could barely sit or bend over the next day. It wasn’t my spine, but a sciatic nerve on the left side. First timer. Took all week to get better.

gregpark 08-24-2025 06:12 AM

^ good to know. Smart business policy Dewalt! Maybe I'll do the same with my chinese knockoffs. I prefer the 6 and 7ah to the 5 even though they weigh a little more

A930Rocket 08-28-2025 07:49 AM

Two new batteries arrived yesterday!

Dewalt FTW.

Un.... friggin... believable. I'm gonna have to order some Walmart online batteries!!

Notice the QR Codes and the DeWalt name not being in black the way they were on the set you bought originally?

My thought exactly. I guess because Walmart was the retailer?

It was listed on Walmart’s site, but sold and shipped by another party. NYY I think was the seller. I left a review about contacting the seller and not hearing back, thinking I could update the review later. I checked, and I could not edit it, as I wanted to change it to them selling counterfeit batteries. I did give them one star.

Yes, the Dewalt batteries have a grey lettering/code. The yellow plastic also looks like a typical Dewalt battery.

cabmandone 08-29-2025 02:51 AM

What I'm trying to figure out is, how did the counterfeiters figure out how to use good serial numbers?? I'm questioning my stacked lithium batteries now. I figured since I was able to register, they were legit. I'm relatively convinced the batteries you had are fakes but somehow they were registered and obviously you got to legit batteries as replacement.

A930Rocket 08-29-2025 06:24 AM

I don’t think the counterfeiters had good serial numbers, but it looks like Dewalt honored the warranty.

The writing in gray is an authentic DeWalt batteries and the serial number starts with an N but it’s much longer. The black writing is counterfeit and the serial number starts with a N but is much shorter. If I’m reading the numbers, right?

DeWalt replaced fake batteries with genuine OEM batteries?

Yes. And that surprise me.

A930Rocket 09-01-2025 07:22 AM

I took apart the battery and it didn’t really tell me anything. I doubt DeWalt stamps the inside of their battery with DeWalt.

It’s easy enough, that I could take a part of a real battery to compare I suppose
