There’s always a workaround…

As a [strict] Jewish friend once observed - that’s why we have so many rabbis and lawyers, everyone’s looking for a loophole…

She was fully kosher - two fridges, two sets of dishes, no shrimpses, beef cooked to death…

My Viking has Sabbath mode. When set it will keep the temperature at whatever temp was set prior to turning on Sabbath mode. Also the oven light will not come on when the door is open and you cannot change the temperature without turning off the Sabbath mode.
Assume that it allows for cooking during Sabbath without operating controls and violating a Sabbath law.

In Israel some buildings/hotels have Sabbath mode for their elevators. They go up and down all day, stopping at every floor. Very annoying and slow, but no buttons have to be pushed.

I didn’t understand at the time, but we built a house years ago, and they requested two dishwashers.

Eating a tongue?

Yup.

Was raised conservative but thankfully it didn't stick...

Separate dishes, etc. for meat and milk. A second set of them for Passover (no leavened products, etc).

Reform are the easy going non-strict

Conservatives are more strict and tend to try and keep kosher, etc. but do not take it to extremes, though some do

Orthodox are very strict

One of the more orthodox members of our local synagogue is a die hard Gator Football fan. He's had an arrangement since the 60s to show up Friday afternoon, show his ticket, etc. so on Saturday he can go to main office and bypass ticket gate, so he doesn't have to carry the ticket or cause the ticket-taker to work. Why yes, Howard is indeed a lawyer, how did you know? :D

We have a very large Jewish community near me. A good friend has a sweet gig going, she actually goes around to different households and turns stuff on and off for them
Makes nice coin doing it too.

Never ceases to amaze me how people try to find get arounds and loopholes in their God’s orders. I have to imagine that isn’t going to go over good on judgement day!

My dinner cooked using the Black Sabbath mode on my oven.

Mrs Sherman's parents escaped Stalin in Russia, and some old family recipes were, um, "interesting." We had tongue sandwiches for lunch one afternoon. It was actually pretty good after I stopped thinking about how I was chewing on a cow's tongue and paid attention to the flavor.

That's called 'lengua' here. Frickin awesome on tacos. I never give it a second thought and is actually one of my go to orders.

Good, but fictional, film about an Orthodox Community in London. Staring Mrs. James Bond.
