Amish lawn mower/fertilizer combo?
Have an Amish fabricating shop about a mile from my place. They mostly build carts and buggies. They started building these portable chicken coops lately... About 6' by 10'
The upper portion is setup for roosting or egg laying. Wheels to move it....handle on the front to guide it. Wheels come up when in place. Mostly all aluminum...light weight. ![]()

I didn't stop in to ask a price...I'm not raising any chickens for meat or eggs.
If moving it every day....piece of cake.

Get off my lawn!

Do chickens really "mow" the yard? No doubt they will fertilize it, and eat all the insects.

Yes, they will eat grass, but they mostly like the bugs/insects. I've seen where they used wood crates to do the same and the grass is all gone. I'm sure that's not the intent (to mow the lawn) but it works. ![]()

We have a smaller one, built by an Amish friend of mine.
We moved them around for a year or so and then parked the damn thing at the stable. The chickens seem nonplussed. They like greens and crumbles. That is my entire insight into the egg layers. ![]()

Brilliant design. I had a friend tell me he'd frequently move his chicken pen from time to time as a "soil conditioner". This makes that chore easy-peasy.

I saw a video sometime in the last month or so where I guy was doing something similar, mobile chicken coop. As stated, they'd eat the bugs and fertilize and then he'd move them on. I think he said more about benefits, but I don't remember the specifics since I don't have chickens.

Went past there this morning....they built another one and moved it near the first one.
This one is loaded with hens. (about a dozen or so)
