oatmeal.

my wife and i were discussing my daily oatmeal. i have been doing the same breakfast pretty much EVERY workday.

5-min Bob's RedMill steel cut oats. with raisins. i add boiling water and let it soak during my commute. then eat it scanning emails. i think that Costco bag is 10lbs.

i think that Stanley food cup is 10 years old. man, i bet i have eaten 100bls of the stuff.

i look at the gruel and curse myself. haha..but once i start eating it, i get by. vary palatable. it is very plain but gets the job done and holds back the starvation until 11:30..then lunch.

for the record, eating oatmeal does ZERO to cholesterol. mine is good, but not great. it should be great. "acts like little sponges for cholesterol....." total BS.

The protein in the peanut butter will not only keep you fuller longer, if you are working out will help build muscle. Just don't over do it, lots of fat in it too.

Muscle Building Foods #2 – Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is an essential muscle building food for mass gains that is calorie dense, packed with good fats and also contains muscle building high protein. Two tablespoons of peanut butter contains around eight grams of protein, which makes it a great muscle mass food. It also contains complex carbohydrates for muscle energy, vitamins and healthy fats.

Muscle Building Food Tip: Try stirring it into your hot oats in the morning, putting it on celery for a snack or adding it to your post-workout smoothie......................

Muscle Building Foods #8 – Oats

Oats are another staple muscle building food for bodybuilders and athletes looking to build muscle mass. Oats give you the energy to power through your training as they are a complex carbohydrate that have a low GI, meaning a long lasting supply of fuel. Oats as a muscle building food are also low in fat, high in fiber and contain essential vitamins and minerals for building muscle mass.

Muscle Building Food Tip: Combining a good muscle mass food like oats with Vitalstrength Pro-Muscle Protein before hitting the gym in the morning will also fuel your body for an intense workout.

Muscle Building Foods Tip: If you’re serious about building muscle mass, you should include a combination of these muscle gain foods in your muscle building diet every day.

I like to use the crunchy peanut butter ground up fresh at my local store or at Lucky's.

I do not mix it in, I take small bits of the glob out with my spoon along with a few blueberries at the bottom and maybe some coconut floating on top.

What does not work for me is mixing Hemp Fiber Protein powder into it, the texture is similar to a dirty kitchen sink sponge dropped on the floor.

I can't do oatmeal. I've tried every way to Sunday to like oatmeal and I just can't. Now cream-o-wheat on the other hand I could eat every fricken day for life. Love the stuff!

Put your biscuits and gravy on TOP of your hashbrowns and then top with scrambled eggs. What we call haystacks around here and they are the bomb! Not easy on the waistline though.

I add raisins, agave syrup, and some nuts like walnuts or pecans or almonds. I also use milk, instead of water. Increases calories and protein...

I stop cooking my oatmeal a minute or so in then I stir an egg into it and finish cooking. I eat it with fresh berries on top.

Pro tip:
If you mix kale and coconut oil in to your oatmeal, the coconut oil will make it easier to scrape the other two in to the trash.

On Sunday nights I usually make a batch for the week: 4 cups of water, 1 cup of steel cut oats and a handful of raisins. Bring the water and raisins to a boil, add the oats and let simmer for 1 minute. Put the lid on it and let it sit overnight and microwave one serving each day.

Try milk instead of water.....that’s called porridge. It’s the only way to eat it! The other way is called gruel. That’s what Scrooge ate!

I like oat meal. I prefer rolled to the steel cut variety. I also like Oat Bran which is harder to find (Bob's Red Mill has it). drkshdw, you may like oat bran, it's kind of in between oat meal and cream of ____ (wheat, rice, malt, whatever). I also love cream of wheat, malt-o-meal and cream of rice which are all about the same.

I grew up with regular quaker oat meal with butter, milk and sugar.

I've since used brown sugar, maple syrup (real) and honey for more flavor.

I've stopped adding sugar 99% of the time. I also stopped cooking it. I add water and yogurt (real stuff with live cultures and no added sugar) to the raw oatmeal and let it sit over night. It's yummy that way. I'll usually add fruit and possibly a spice. I mostly do berries, straw, black, blue, rasp... Sometimes I'll include cardamom with the berries or cinnamon. I've also done banana and some nuts which is tasty.

For something savory (oat bran, never tried it with oat meal) I'll add a little butter, some soy sauce and some cheese.

I've also tried adding egg, bacon (cooked and chopped) and sauteed onion and that's also tasty.

She doesn't like to cook and prepare meals for herself - or me either - and eats poorly. She gets veggies and fruit only when I feed her.
Other than that, energy bars, scrambled eggs, and lots of water is her main diet.
Oh, and Oatmeal now/then.

This sounds interesting. Can you share the ratio of water and yoghurt to oats? I'd like to try doing this, cuz right now I'm eating a bagel and an egg every morning and I want to get off that schneid...
