This could have gone badly if they were real LEOs

The suspects were wearing bulletproof vests marked with "police," but no patrol cars or flashing lights were present, raising the homeowner’s suspicions, authorities said. The two men were also wearing masks covering their faces and badges around their necks, Fox 26 Houston reported, citing the police.

"They became suspicious because they have a Ring camera and the suspects were stating they had a warrant, but it's just two people, and they're masked up and no police cars, no lights or anything like that," Lt. Khan told Fox 26.

Police said the men fired into the home before the residents returned gunshots, killing both, the local station reported. Arriving officers attempted CPR, but the men were pronounced dead at the scene, the outlet added.

That’s a heartwarming story. Real police wouldn’t just start shooting into the house. Well hopefully not…

Thank you Mr Homeowner for saving the taxpayers millions of dollars in trials and prison!

Maybe others will learn from this. But I doubt it.

LOL… Errr maybe, maybe not.

I think this issue has compounded with the whole ghost and unmarked le running around. A nefarious squad of guys can run mayhem wearing the appropriate clothing.

IIRC Indiana passed a law a while back that basically states "if you have no reasonable belief that you would be subject to a warrant, shooting back is OK"

Granted, if it really were the cops on a wrong address/bad info no-nock raid you probably won't live to see a judge about it, but ....

A crime and two deaths. “Heartwarming” indeed.

Good guys = 2
Bad guys = 0

There are two human being who prey on others with deadly force, who started this whole event, who are now dead.

So yes, heartwarming that these two are no longer around to harm others.

Or:

Two lives (or more) saved.

And a crime averted.

flatbutt 08-25-2025 12:53 PM

I suppose all's well that ends well but both sides fired blindly? Fortunately no one else was hit.

Two innocent people saved from two criminals. What a strange, warped perspective. Do you think they were showing up at night with guns, impersonating police, and then blindly shooting into the home of innocent citizens because they were Jehova’s Witnesses?

They were just misunderstood young men that needed a little understanding (9mm) and compassion (.45)

The only unfortunate bit of the story is that the home owner now has to live with what happened. I've never shot or killed anyone. My thought is that killing someone in self defense should not haunt you. But I suspect that as a human, killing another human, probably does haunt you no matter the reason. I'm sure it would impact some folks more than others. There probably are some folks that would not be impacted under specific circumstances. I suspect there are folks that would be negatively impacted regardless of the circumstances.

agreed...one of those things you never know until it's you....I hope it's never me.

I totally agree. I work with and am friends with a number of ex-military, SOF, and PD type folks. It’s not something to be taken lightly, those ghosts haunt you for years.

Good bullet proof vests, but certainly not great bullet proof vests.

David Inc. 08-26-2025 06:43 AM

I'm not aware of a situation that ended in a gunfight like this, but there have been instances of people imitating ICE agents robbing people and committing sexual assault.

This whole masked officers not identifying themselves thing going on needs to be put to bed ASAP.

Nothing is bullet proof, only bullet resistant. Somewhere, there is always a bigger bullet.

or more slippery...

Aren't there some bullets that are designed specifically to go through bullet proof vests?

Teflon coated bullets defies the physics of body armor. The only bullets meant to penetrate soft level 3 is the 5.7. Iirc, they don’t have to be ap as they’re flying fast enough.
