I've been getting the 'Denial of Service' message also the last three days. Clearing browser data doesn't seem to help. The only way I could get to the forum was wait and restart.
It did it to me this am once so far.

Let Eric at Pelican Parts know via PM.

The staff is really good and responsive and, most importantly, if I tried to do anything about the issue the Bots would multiply

Same here, lately.

Why are they picking on PPOT or are they doing it elsewhere and what do they gain by doing whatever it is they do?

Point Eric to this thread .... the site has been unreachable for the most part for 2.5 days ... forget logging in or a PM ...

There are aporox 10K "active users" right now. I've started several threads urging "nip it" ....

Eric, your site is being blocked by a Denial of Service the past two days .... likely at a low level protocol ...

Fix it please .... Wayne seemed to be aware a few days ago ....

I used to "live" this stuff ... it's obvious from my perspective ... that'll be $19.95 ... for my .02 worth

Sent you a PM...I have no acumen to explain what you know to him. That is a compliment!

Strange, I haven't had any issues getting on the Pelican forums whether I'm logged in or not. I'll let my more techy colleague know though, and see what we can do to take care of this.

One of my colleagues was working on this earlier in the afternoon, and we shouldn't be having any more denial of service errors. I've been told it was bots + a session timing issue that was bogging down the forum.

We have been blocking ISP's, but its tough when they're coming from all over the place. Let me know if you guys are still running into issues and I'll pass it on.

Thank you Eric! I was on the site when the "bot count" went from over 25K back down to zero (temporarily) .... it's now at 15K. But the site can handle 15K concurrent bots .... it croaks at around double that.

These totals are 10x what they have been just a few days ago ...

There is still a clean-up on the bot aisle needed ...

I would do an analysis of these 10-25K bogus IP connections.... there IS a common denominator .... trust me .

Whack-A-Bot .... in a spray can .... good luck... it hasn't been fixed yet... but the site can handle this threshold....

Whew !
