Pay to make it fit.
Find a tailor that doesn’t blow smoke up your ass about how it looks.

The suit material is almost incidental to how it actually fits.
The cut is almost - but not quite incidental to how it actually fits.
Guess what I’m going to say about the style…

This one off your website looks great. Subtle but stylish.

Good advice here on suits. As for dress shirts, I have a hard time finding off the shelf ones that fit properly, I have a long torso…Eton are great but too short for me. I’ve been using propercloth.com, you can get custom made shirts tailored just for you and the price is not crazy at all. There are a few other similar sites out there. I’m in the same boat, have to attend a wedding next year, and I haven’t worn a suit in several years….the one nice one I have likely has shrunk in the closet.

Paul posted a link to Studiosuits, does anyone have experience with one of these factory direct type places? I tried MTailor for a dress shirt shortly after they started, I was pretty disappointed with both the fit and quality of the shirt.

Not sure.

I have an appointment here on Wednesday: https://www.lionelsmithltd.com/

I bought my first suit from them 50 years ago

Lionel was a good friend of my parents and now has dementia. His son Van runs the place and is excellent.

So, we'll see!

Don't forget the well coordinated pocket square. And French cuffs are IMHO a must.

My last suit? Bought something off the rack. It was lowish quality. Had a top shelf tailor fit it to me. It is great.

Last blazer? Made to fit in Vietnam. Oh boy. I HIGHLY recommend it. Rainbow Tailors in Hoy On. Tell Eric I sent you. Got some shirts, shoes, and wife got sandals. Awesome.

I love my collection of French cuff shirts and links. Agree on the pocket square but I can't pull them off.

Give Nordstrom Rack (online) and Saks off Fifth a look. I've bought several nice suits from them in the last few years.
