This is breaking my heart guys

Our home is officially up for sale. I put my heart and soul into this place. I spilt a lot of blood and put a lot of sweat into it. And now tears

Hopefully a young couple will buy it and make lots of wonderful memories in the house.

I can see why you are sad, it’s a beautiful home.

Alan A 08-31-2025 06:55 AM

After it sells don’t have the neighbors send you update pictures. Clean break is best.

Guy I know just moved from IL to SC. He has a huge sad-on because the new owners ripped out some arbor he spent 20 years training…

I can understand, it’s a beautiful property. Love your choices for woodwork throughout, gives it a very warm and homey feel. We’ve done similarly with our home.

I could live there, I think, except for the weather...

Nice place, sorry you had to leave.

HobieMarty 08-31-2025 08:56 AM

That is a beautiful piece of property, a beautiful home, that you created and can be proud of, and have a lifetime of memories made there. Now, as sad as it can be, it will be a beautiful home for a new family to make a lifetime of memories as well. I can understand your tears though, y'all done good!!!

I don't want to make it worse but that is a freakin' palace!

Actually 7 years according to Patrick. That is a LOT of work in 7 years.

Moving is tough enough, and having to move from there has to be even worse. I suppose one has to look at that glass as half full rather than half empty. There is the new place and as I understand it, it's not lacking.

2-3 weeks of good painters and finish carpenters (maybe 4) can really make a huge interior transformation. Add in floors and that's a package. Hopefully expediting any proposed decorating at the new place won't be too difficult to match or exceed the home being sold.

Why do you have to leave? Where going? I must have missed a thread or two.

The Synergizer 08-31-2025 09:43 AM

That's my question. Why sell, why not just retire there? Stay there.

If that was in Colorado it would be $1.5 million at least. I can't believe the value you can get back in the midwest compared to the west.

You and the next poster did. He explained his move awhile back. His wife was not being engaged enough with community, IRRC. They are moving closer to a population, Beyond that, I can't say, but you can scroll through wdfifteen posts.

There are houses and then there are homes. When my Dad passed, his home just became a house. Sad but true, it is the people.

When it comes to RE, there are only 3 things that matter; location, location and location. :)

So I’m just making sure I have this right. Wd lived, loved and toiled in this beautiful home for seven years and is now leaving?

Evans, Marv 08-31-2025 02:27 PM

Such a beautiful home, but there are times and circumstances calling for a new phase in life. Best of luck to you and your wife. I don't think I will ever move from the house I built 16+ years ago. The up side of living here eclipses the possibilities alsewhere - at least for me. Moving means you have the chance to go on a new adventure.

Wow...that's a beautiful place! I can see how it must've been tough to think about letting it go.

In addition to maybe being a bit too remote as once mentioned, did ongoing upkeep & maintenance of a house & property this size enter into your decision to sell?
A friend who has acreage in rural Vermont once told me that just keeping the grass mowed in summer and his access road & parking areas plowed in winter was almost a full-time job.

Good advice...

Thanks Zeke. I was erroneously thinking, WD sure does move a lot. :)

I saw this earlier and didn't post as I had not read the reason why, etc. and knew Patrick and Vicki had put their hearts and LOTS of work into making it what it is.

It sucks, but Patrick is one of the truly remarkable guys on this forum imo ... and now he's turning the page .... again.

Best to you both ... be well!
