Food servers with piercings

I took the fam to a gluten free, dairy free, vegan restaurant because son has Celiac disease and both of us have issues with dairy. Every server (all female btw) has nose rings and multiple ear piercings. One had eyebrow piercings too (that’s gotta hurt). I’m guessing the type of restaurant attracts these workers? No visible tats though, weird. Food was just ok but safe for tummies.

Years ago, had a waitress in Portland with piercings...I talked her into showing me her navel ring. Cindy was a little upset, but hey...it was worth it.

Piercings these days, especially in SF should be commonplace. I would think that EVERY restaurant in the SF/SJ area would be full of piercings and tats. And nose and eyebrow and multiple ear is nothing/normal these days. Did they have gauges in their noses or ears? That would be on the more extreme end (but not unusual).

If you ever find yourself in Houston, this is someplace that you should check out. All of the food that we've ever had there is good. And it's not just "good for being ___-free" it's just all good (great really).

Vibrant's food and drinks are all housemade with the most nutritious, whole and organic ingredients possible. Our meat and eggs are local and pasture raised, we only used pure, unrefined oils and our menu is free from dairy, refined sugars and most gluten.
My wife is not celiac, but too much gluten definitely makes her feel bad after. I can eat pretty much anything that I want, and I love this place.

It could have been worse, I suppose, at least you stopped at the belly button and didn't shoot for anything else... LOL!

There used to be a gluten free vegan bakery operated out of a small house in my neighborhood. I knew the owners and bought a few different things from there. It was all beautiful and smelled delicious... and that’s were it ended, I’ve never eaten the soles of my own shoes, but I imagine they would have the same mouth feel as the bakery items!

I agree with your statement and feel the same way. You aint gonna see these waitress in your typical Mexican Restaurants. They would melt and take the day off to see their shrink when one of those old fashion Mexican old dude whistle to get their attention. I know it isn't cool but that's what they do and don't mean anything by it.

Maybe I’m jaded, it doesn’t even faze me any more. Piercings, fake hair color, or tats, I’d bet money that every server has at least one of three. Whatever, if they’re nice and provide good service I’ll give them a good tip. Who am I to judge their life choices?

I have a feeling you see them as servers because it's hard to apply and receive a legit job with a bull-ring in your nose.

It always bums me out when I see an otherwise beautiful girl with that bull-ring booger catcher in her nose, but I think that may be part of the fad.

IMO it's the "see the real me! See what's inside! Not just the exterior facade that dominates our miserable culture! I'm so much more than that!"

Odds are high I'm reading too much into it.

It's fine. and ugly. And totally fine.

Agreed. I feel the same about a beautiful woman that’s covered in tats. I always think “what a waste”.

Yep, agree with ya both. A couple of brothers that do a lot of sub contractor work for us has that typical look. Tied up, long slick hair, tats on their arms, black sunglasses and they typical long goatee past their necks and the black boots. I never if they are going out on a date of working in the trench. they always look the same. They are the nicest and honest people I know. Never an issue but they sure have that threatening look to them.

I lot of "gluten-free" stuff is bad, but there is some good gluten free stuff. You just have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince. I only know because my wife is mostly gluten free.

I saw this the other day and thought it was funny and sent it to my wife.

I'd rather see tats or piercings than stains on the apron and dirt under the fingernails.

I don't have any tats or piercings. When I was a teen, the whole single pierced ear thing was "cool". I considered it several times, but in the end didn't do it. I just didn't feel the need. I am not against piercings or tats, but have never felt the need or felt that I had anything important enough to commemorate.

This is just awful. She's got a nose ring (side not septum) AND tats. Definitely bad, bad, bad. If I were young and single and struck up a conversation, I would definitely have no desire for it to go farther...

I'm guessing none of you guys that are grumbling about piercings or tats ever had long hair? Long hair back in the 60s-70s-80s was about the same as piercings and tats today. Fashion statement, personal statement, or trying to "fit in" which most folks try to do.

When did you guys get so old?

Back in the 70's I had long hair AND a single piercing in the LEFT ear.
