I'm surprised she hasn't been outed yet, with her unique two-tone hairstyle. Part of me wants to see her get shamed, and I'm sure in her circle of friends she has been, and really that's enough. The boy's father said it best. When she becomes known, I'm sure things will go much worse for her. She acted badly, but maybe she didn't understand who gets a baseball that winds up in the stands. I think she may have been the closest one to the loose ball, but I don't think it was in her grasp and taken away. She probably believed it was hers and acted in response to that. Everything happened so quickly on both sides, without time to ponder the consequences. She should write an apology and give the ball back. Maybe she can salvage some dignity and move on with less hate.

The boy's father should have kept the ball, but by seeing it wasn't worth it and diffusing the situation, has shown us all something about grace, most importantly his son. Think of how far ahead that family is for him showing some sacrifice. A free RV seems ridiculous to me- they should ask for a charitable donation be made instead. Easy for me to say, not facing a free Winnebago... World Series tickets is a great gesture and reward, on top of what's come their way.

Hopefully, unrelated and unnecessary PARF remarks don't have to condemn this thread like the first one.

It's amazing that the woman has yet to be ID'd. Karen's are usually ID'd within hours. There have been a few false ID's including one from a school district who put out a statement:

" 'Phillies Karen' is not, and has never been, an employee of the Hammonton Public Schools," the district wrote. "Anyone who works for our school district, attended as a student or lives in our community would obviously have caught the ball bare-handed in the first place, avoiding this entire situation."

The Dad is a class act. She did a stupid and selfish thing, but I don't think her life should be ruined for it. The Dad has commented about people contacting him and telling him they will get the ball back. He's publicly said to let it go and not pursue this further. That statement from the school district is the best!
