Customer Service Thumbs Up - Leatherique Leather Cleaner

In our age of crappy customer service, I wanted to give kudos to a good company. I have used Leatherique products for years, I think I actually learned about them from either here or Rennlist when I wanted to restore the hard leather in my 951 circa 2004-ish. I’ve used the Rejuvinator Oil to restore cracked and hard leather on a bunch of cars, used their dyes to repair and re-dye seats and other vinyl parts, and use their Pristine Clean for regular leather detailing in all of my cars. I purchased a bottle of Pristine Clean in May that seemed off, in my Ram that has a very extensive genuine leather interior it left a sticky film on the seats and streaks on the leather dash. Not normal based on owning and cleaning this truck for over a year.

So I figured what the hell and sent them an email. Within 30 minutes I had a response from a real person asking for more information. After my email response he asked for my address to send me another bottle to try. New bottle showed up within a few days with a hand written note thanking me for being a long time customer, and the new bottle works exactly as expected. Sometimes stuff happens, in this case a bottle that obviously didn’t get mixed correctly, but they couldn’t have done a better job of making it right. Pretty rare in this day and age.

Which specific product should one use on ... say a Carrera?

Asking for a friend

Thanks!

I’ve bought a lot of cars with neglected leather. Hard, maybe some cracking, but not to the point that it’s totally cracked/torn or worn out. Their Rejuvenator Oil can work wonders for leather that’s not too far gone. You coat the leather with the oil, I typically just massage it in with my hands, and then let it sit. The longer the better, and it works better when it’s warm. I usually cover the oiled surfaces with a trash bag to keep the heat in and the oil off of me. When you’re ready to remove you use the Pristine Clean and a rag, then a water damp rag (frequently rinsed), then buff with a dry rag. It’s really easy and I’ve never not seen improvement. You can buy packs of the oil and cleaner off of the big A or from Leatherique directly. Also when you’re all done the seats smell great.

You posts are probably what I remember ... seats are great ... a hot, humid garage and a couple of weeks of plastic sauna should suffice... thanks !

Do you really leave it on for weeks ? My Boxster seats could use some love just due to age . The leather is in good shape generally speaking.

I’ve left it on for several weeks before, supposedly there’s really not a point of too long but you can definitely remove it too soon.

Been using the stuff for years.
I think the Canadian distributor is a one man show and he is great to work with.

Yeah, it's great stuff if a little expensive. I have some on the shelf and I've also used it for years. It will really save leather from going bad as well as keep it clean. The most important thing for interior care is to avoid parking in the hot sun on a regular basis but sometimes it's unavoidable. Shade is your friend.

I think that I initially learned about it when I went down a detailing rabbit hole on YT and some guy with a channel demonstrated how to use it correctly on a Ferrari. The oil is actually part of the cleaning process as well as a moisturizer. Leaving it on for a while in a hot car draws the dirt and schmutz up to the surface where it can be washed off with the Prestine cleaner. It is a great product.

Soooo...

Lather, rinse, repeat... or
Lather, lather, rinse

Seats aren't really dirty .... Ima thinkin' oil first, then oil again after a few days in plastic... then plastic a few more, then the cleaner?

I would do oil/cleaner, oil/cleaner if you want to do it several times. Like Denis said the oil helps pull the crud out of your leather, then the cleaner removes it.
